Brinkmann Best Practices
Create a separate Drawing Area for Punch List. If you create as a Drawing Set, Procore will sync them with other plans and all punch items will appear on the set.
Punch List works best on your mobile device as you walk the site.
It is RECOMMENDED to create items from a Drawing. Punch tool is best used to review and send items to subcontractors.
Pins are color coded:
Blue Pins: New Items
Grey Pins: Closed or Draft Status
Locations shall be used to organize punch list items for more detail (Locations are set up in the Admin Tool of your project. - See Locations heading on main page)
Locations
When creating the locations, make sure to NOT just list all rooms or areas individually under this entire building. If the building is phased, create categories for each phase and have subcategories for areas in each phase.
Don't forget your site and subcategories for elevations. Here's an example of how it should be broken up:
Location: Building
Sub-Location: Roof
Sub-Location: Steep Roof
Sub-Location: Flat Roof A
Sub-Location: Flat Roof B
Sub-Location: East Elevation
Sub-Location: West Elevation
Location: Site
Sub-Location: Courtyard A
Sub-Location: Courtyard B
Location: Phase B East Wing
Sub-Location: Conference Rooms
Sub-Location: 1186 Conference Room
Sub-Location: 1187 Conference Room
Sub-Location: Perimeter Office
Sub-Location: 1190 GM Office
Sub-Location: 1191 Office
Sub-Location: 1192 Admin
Sub-Location: Corridors
Sub-Location: 1000 Corridor
Sub-Location: 1001 Corridor
When filtering locations, Procore allows you to select a location or sub-location and then include all sub-locations. Meaning if you have a general note to align all hanging light fixtures in corridors, you can select the sub-location corridors and then select the button to include sub-locations so you do not have to create a separate item for each corridor. This comes in handy for any general items you may have.

Item Information: This section provides an overview of the punch list item's details.
Item Workflow: This section displays the item's progress as well as the item's Creator, Punch Manager, and Ball in Court.
Assignee Responses: This section logs all Assignee responses, comments, and attachments related to the item.
Activity: This section provides a detailed historical record of all modifications made to the punch list item.
1 Users with 'Standard' level permissions can perform this action if they are listed as the item's Punch Item Manager, Assignee, or Final Approver, or if they have been granted the granular permission "Respond to Punch Items Assigned to Users within the Same Company."
2 'Standard' level users can only list 'Admin' level users as the 'Assignee' on a punch list item. However, 'Standard' level users who have been chosen to act as a Punch Item Manager from the Punch List Settings, can list other 'Standard' level users as the 'Assignee' on a punch list item.
3 'Standard' level users can only close punch list items they have created (when the item's status is 'Draft' or 'In Dispute'), or when they have been designated as the item's 'Final Approver' (when the item's status is 'Ready to Close') or designated as the item's 'Punch Item Manager'.
4 Users with 'Read Only' permissions can perform this action if they have been granted the granular permission “Respond to Punch Items Assigned to Users within the Same Company.”
5 Users with 'Standard' and 'Read Only' permissions can only view non-private punch list items after they have been sent to the Assignee.
6 Users with 'Standard' permissions can only perform this action for items they created.
7 This task also requires 'Admin' permissions on the project's Admin tool and 'Standard' permissions on the project's Directory tool.
Below are the notable changes to the project's Punch List tool.
