Below are the notable changes to the Project level Documents tool.
Procore now offers private and public markup layers in the Documents tool. Users can create and manage markups on the web. On iOS and Android, users can view markups created on the web. Private markups are enabled by default for users with access to the Documents tool and remain visible only to the user who created them, while public markups can be viewed by all the users. The Documents tool also includes granular permissions that allow users with 'Read Only' and 'Standard' permission levels to publish public markups on files. Additionally, users can apply filters, copy markups, reuse markup styles, and download or email files with or without visible markups. Published public markups are also indicated with a markup icon on the list page. To learn more, see Create and Manage Private and Public Markup Layers in the Documents Tool, View Private and Public Markup Layers in the Documents Tool (iOS) and View Private and Public Markup Layers in the Documents Tool (Android).
Procore now offers overlay and side-by-side comparison capabilities in the Documents tool on web and mobile, providing users with more flexible ways to review document changes. The overlay comparison feature allows users to compare two different versions of the same document, while the side-by-side comparison enables users to compare two different documents or versions in a split-screen view with a 'Show Semantics' feature to identify specific changes. This feature is available in both the Company and Project level Documents tool. To learn more, see Compare Documents in the Company Level Documents Tool, Compare Documents in the Company Level Documents Tool (iOS), Compare Documents in the Company Level Documents Tool (Android), Compare Documents in the Project Level Documents Tool, Compare Documents in the Project Level Documents Tool (iOS), and Compare Documents in the Project Level Documents Tool (Android).
Procore now offers enhanced navigation features in the Documents tool viewer, enabling users to seamlessly switch between documents and versions. The Documents viewer now includes Previous and Next document navigation buttons, a searchable document drop-down, and a version selector for easier access to document history. These features are available in both the Project and Company-level Documents tool. To learn more, see View Documents in the Project Level Documents Tool and View Documents in the Company Level Documents Tool.
Procore has upgraded the Company Admin Pages for both the Documents and Specifications tools to deliver a more consistent and efficient user experience. The Admin Pages retained their familiar UI and functionality, ensuring uninterrupted user workflows while providing enhanced responsiveness and reliability.
Procore updated both the Company and Project Documents tool by introducing a modernized user interface that aligns with Procore’s latest design patterns. The Documents tool received updated UI elements, including a new email modal that offers a more intuitive and consistent experience, with no loss or significant change in functionality.
Procore has introduced a new feature that allows users to add viewpoints from a model file in Autodesk® Navisworks® directly from the Documents tool. The ‘Add Views’ feature enables users to select and publish up to 200 views, enhancing the ability to visualize and interact with model data. To learn more, see Publish a Model with the Documents Tool.
Procore has enhanced the Documents tool by modernizing its User Interface (UI) to align with updated design patterns. The Settings and Email pages have been replaced with newly designed pages, offering a more modern look and feel without any loss of functionality.
Procore has deprecated the 'name_with_path' field in the Documents API, affecting the v1.0 API for the Project Level Documents Tool. The v1.0 API has been replaced by the v2.0 API, which offers a new response format and removes the 'name_with_path' field from the response views.
Procore has enhanced mobile PDF rendering for the Documents tool for iOS and Android. The Apryse Viewer now provides a modern viewing experience, preparing the tool for future markup features.
3D Model files in the Documents tool are now processed automatically in Procore accounts that have the BIM product. See View and Download 3D Models in the Documents Tool.
Procore now supports the ability to upload, process, and view 3D DWG files in the Documents tool. See View and Download 3D Models in the Documents Tool.
Procore has added support for viewing and downloading Industry Foundation Class (.ifc) model files in the Documents tool. See View and Download 3D Models in the Documents Tool.
Procore has added a feature that allows you to export object data from a model file in the project's Documents tool. See Export Object Data from a Model File. After the export is complete, you will receive an email with a CSV file that contains the data.
