Upload Files or Folders to the Project Level Documents Tool

To upload files and folders to the project's Documents tool.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions:
    • 'Standard' or 'Admin' permissions on the project's Documents tool.
  • Additional Information:
    • Duplicate file types are not accepted. See Upload a New Version of a File.
    • There is a 50GB file size limit for individual uploads.
    • Uploading folders is not supported in Internet Explorer. You will need to use another browser (i.e. Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.) if you want to upload folders.


There are a few different ways to upload files to a project's Documents tool. Choose to follow steps from one of the following:

Upload Files or Folders Using the Documents Tool

  1. Navigate to the Documents tool.
  2. Click on the folder you want to upload a file or folder to.
  3. Click the + New drop-down menu. Choose one of the following options:
    • File Upload: Click to upload a file.
    • Folder Upload: Click to upload a new folder.
  4. In the Upload window, drag and drop one or more files from your computer to the gray box.
    Click Attach to select a file from your computer. 
  5. If a file with the same filename already exists, choose one of the following options:
    • Rename: Click to rename the file.
      Note: "(1)" will be added to the end of the filename. To rename the file later, see Rename a File.
    • New Version: Click to confirm that the file is a new version of the existing file.
      Note: A 'New Version' badge will appear next to the file during the upload, and the file will be added as a new version of the original file.
  6. Click Upload.
    Note: A progress indicator is shown for each upload, and the system returns to the Documents tool page after the upload is complete.

Upload Files by Sending an Email

  1. Navigate to the Documents tool.
    Note: Make sure the root (i.e. main) folder is selected.
  2. Click Import Options to expand the section. The email address is listed in the 'To Email Files To This Project' section. 

  3. Create an email that is addressed to your Documents tool's email address (mentioned above).
  4. Attach any files you want to add to the Documents tool.
    Note: The files will be uploaded to the 'Emailed Documents' folder.

Upload Files or Folders Using Procore Drive
