Respond to a Submittal as an Approver

To submit a response (e.g., approved, approved as noted, rejected, etc.) to a submittal using the Project level Submittals tool.

The creator of a submittal adds one or more approvers to the submittal workflow (see Add Reviewers to the Submittal Workflow). Each approver must then submit a response as described in Steps below. When a response is due depends upon whether the project is configured to use sequential approval (this is the default setting) or parallel approval. If a reviewer's response becomes overdue, the system sends an automated email reminder to the reviewer until a response is submitted. If no response is received, a reminder is sent once a day for 45 days.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions
    • 'Standard' or 'Admin' level permissions on the Submittals tool.
  • For companies using the Custom Submittal Responses feature:
    • If your company has created custom submittal responses (see Create Custom Submittals Responses), the selections in the Response drop-down list may be different than the ones documented below.
  • Additional Information:
    • If the project is configured to use submittal workflow with sequential approval (this is the default setting), the system sends an 'Action Required' email to reviewers in the order defined by the workflow.
    • If the project is configured to use submittal workflow with parallel approval, the system sends an Action Required Email to all reviewers and reviewers can submit responses concurrently.
