Edit a User Account in the Project Directory



To edit a person to the project's Directory tool. 

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permission:
    • To add people or to edit people in the Users and Inactive Users tabs, 'Admin' level permission on the project's Directory tool.
    • To add people or to edit people in the Users tab as a user with 'Standard' or 'Read Only' level permission to the project's Directory tool, the  'Create and Edit Users' granular permission must be enabled on the permission template associated with your user account on the project.   • Additional Information:
    • Any edits you make will be reflected in the person's Change History tab. The change history is only visible to users with 'Admin' level permission on the Project Directory.  It is NOT visible to users who have been assigned the granular permission.

  • Limitations:
    • If a person who has access to more than one (1) Procore company account has logged into Procore, you will not be able to change that person's email address. To learn more, see Can I change a person's email address in the Directory?
    • The Inactive Users tab is only visible and available to users with 'Admin' level permission. 





  1. Navigate to the project's Directory tool.
    This reveals the Project Directory page. 
  2. Click the Users tab.
    Note: If you are a user with 'Admin' level permission to the DIrectory, you can also edit records listed on the Inactive Users tab.
    This reveals a list of users added to the project.
  3. Locate the person in the list. Then click Edit
    This opens the profile in edit mode. 
  4. Click the desired tab:
    • General. To change personal contact information, company information, project permission templates, or default email notification settings, click this tab.  Update the information as desired. To learn more about your options see Add a Person to the Project Directory.
    • Distribution Groups. To view a list of distribution groups to which the user has been assigned, click this tab. Then place a checkmark next to the desired distribution groups. To remove the user from a group, clear the checkmark. 
    • Change History. To view a change history for the selected user, click this tab. 
  5. Click Save or Save & Send Notification.
