Overview
In Beta
The Project Map beta is available for Procore customers and can be accessed by opting into the new Procore Home Open Beta experience through Procore Explore. This feature is for web only at this time.Project Map seamlessly integrates your project items within an easy-to-navigate map, available at your fingertips anytime, anywhere. View incidents, inspections, observations, photos, and punch items on an interactive map to quickly understand work status and minimize delays.
How does it work?
- Gain clear, location-based insight into construction status across any project type, from infrastructure to high-rises.
- Filter items by date or type to identify roadblocks, make informed decisions, and take action quickly.
- Ensure clarity and confidence in project execution with accurate geolocated data accessible to your entire team.
How to Get Started
Project Map is currently in Beta and is available for you to try.
- Log into your Procore account and navigate to the company level Admin tool.
- Under the ‘Company Settings’ menu, click Procore Explore.
- Type ‘Project Map’ in the search bar, then click Details.
- Click Join Beta.
Considerations
- Required Permissions:
- Access to Project Map is configured by a Company Admin of the Procore account. See Enable User Access for Project Map.
- To view or take actions on items on the map, you must have permissions to take that action in the relevant Procore tool.
- For example, to view observations on the map, you must have 'Read Only' access or higher to the Observations tool.
- The Project Map currently shows items from the Incidents, Inspections, Observations, Photos and Punch List tools.
- All items appear on the map based on the location data in the item. If items do not appear on the map, it is likely that the items do not contain a photo with location data. To confirm that your photos collect location data when you are capturing photos, see Android Location Data and iOS Location Data. You can also manually add item pins to the map. See Add Pin to Map in this guide.
View Items on the Map
- Navigate to Maps from the ‘Project Tools’ menu.
- If the Project Overview Beta is enabled, you will access Maps from the 'All Tools' menu.
- Select what tool you want to see items for.
Note: To view items, you must have 'Read Only' level permissions or higher to the relevant tool.- Incidents

- Click the list view
icon.
- Locate the item you want to see.
- Click the show on map
icon to center the item's pin on the map.
- Click the item name in the list to see the item summary.
OR
Click the map pin or thumbnail to see the item summary.
- In the item summary, click the title or the go to details
icon, to view the item's details in a new tab
Filter
- Navigate to the Maps Beta from the ‘Project Tools’ menu.
- If the Project Overview Beta is enabled, you will access Maps from the 'All Tools' menu.
- Select what tool you want to see items for.
Note: To view items, you must have 'Read Only' level permissions or higher to the relevant tool.- Incidents

- Click the filter
icon. The following filters are available:
- Incidents
- Status: Select the item's status.
- Date Created: Select a date.
- Inspections and Observations
- Status. Select the item's status.
- Assignee. Select the item's assignee.
- Type. Select the item's type.
- Due Date. Select a due date range for the item.
- Photos
- Taken On. Select the date range a photo was taken.
- Uploaded on. Select the date range a photo was uploaded.
- Uploaded by. Select the user who uploaded the photo.
- Trade. Select the trade assigned to the photo.
- Punch List
- Status. Select the item's status.
- Due Date. Select a due date range for the item.
- Ball in Court. Select the person currently responsible for the punch item.
- Type. Select the punch item type.
- Select In View, to only see items in the current map area.
- Select In Geofence, to see items within a geofence.
- Click your mouse to draw the boundaries of your geofence, with your final click ending at your first click, to create an enclosed area.
- Incidents
Show or Hide Tools
- Navigate to Maps from the ‘Project Tools’ menu.
- If the Project Overview Beta is enabled, you will access Maps from the 'All Tools' menu.
- Select what tool for which you want to see items.
Note: To show or hide items, you must have 'Read Only' level permissions or higher to the relevant tool.
- Take one of the following actions:
- Click the show
icon to change all items for that tool from shown to hidden.
- Click the hidden
icon to change all items for that tool from hidden to shown.
- Click the show
Add a Pin
- Navigate to Maps from the ‘Project Tools’ menu.
- If the Project Overview Beta is enabled, you will access Maps from the 'All Tools' menu.
- Select what tool you want to see items for.
Note: To add items, you must have 'Standard' level permissions or higher to the relevant tool.- Incidents
- Inspections
- Observations
- Photos

- Click the list view

- Click the add to map
icon next to the item.
Tip
Unmapped items will have a grayed out icon, and have the add to mapicon instead of the show on map
icon.
- Move your cursor over the map. Then click to add the pin to the desired location.
Move a Pin
- Navigate to the Maps Beta from the ‘Project Tools’ menu.
- If the Project Overview Beta is enabled, you will access Maps from the 'All Tools' menu.
- Select what tool you want to see items for.
Note: To move item pins, you must have 'Standard' level permissions or higher to the relevant tool.- Incidents

- Click the list view

- Click the item name in the list to see the item summary.
OR
Click the map pin or thumbnail to see the item summary.Tip
Click the show on mapicon to center the item's pin on your map.
- In the item summary, click the move pin
icon.
- On the map, click and hold the move pin
icon. Then drag the pin to the desired location.
- Click the map to confirm the new location.
Remove Pin Coordinates
- Navigate to the Maps Beta from the ‘Project Tools’ menu.
- If the Project Overview Beta is enabled, you will access Maps from the 'All Tools' menu.
- Select what tool you want to see items for.
Note: To remove items, you must have "Standard' level permissions or higher to the relevant tool.- Incidents

- Click the list view

- Click the item name in the list to see the item summary.
OR
Click the map pin or thumbnail to see the item summary. - In the item summary, click the remove pin
icon to remove the pin from the map.
Important
This action removes the item's location data AND removes the pin from the map.
Items themselves are not deleted. To delete an item, see Delete an Incident, Delete an Inspection, Delete an Observation, or Delete Photos.
Configure the Map
Change Base Map
- Navigate to the Maps Beta from the ‘Project Tools’ menu.
- If the Project Overview Beta is enabled, you will access Maps from the 'All Tools' menu.
Note: To change the basemap, you must have 'Read Only' level permissions or higher to company level Maps tool.
- If the Project Overview Beta is enabled, you will access Maps from the 'All Tools' menu.
- Click the base map preview on the map.
- Select your preferred base map from one of the following options:
- Topographic
- Satellite
- Light Topographic
- Dark Topographic
- None
Rotate Map
- Navigate to the Maps Beta from the ‘Project Tools’ menu.
- If the Project Overview Beta is enabled, you will access Maps from the 'All Tools' menu.
- Click the compass
icon and hold. Rotate the map to your desired orientation.
Note: Double clicking the compass arrow will reset the map orientation to north.
Show Pins or Thumbnails
- Navigate to the Maps Beta from the ‘Project Tools’ menu.
- If the Project Overview Beta is enabled, you will access Maps from the 'All Tools' menu.
- Select what tool you want to see items for.
Note: To view items, you must have 'Read Only' level permissions or higher to the relevant tool.- Incidents

- Click the list view

- Click the configure
icon on the list.
- Select one of the following options for your 'Photo Point Style':
- Thumbnails
- Pins
Permissions
Project Map
Important
- To access Project Map functionality, you need Read-only permissions or higher for the Maps tool. See Enable User Access for Project Map Beta to learn more.
- To view and interact with supported Project Map tools, users must also have permissions for the supported tool(s). For example, in order to see photos on the Project Map, users must have permission to the Photos tool.
- The following tool-specific user permissions are required to perform the described user action per tool on the Project Map:
