1.4 - Delete and Retrieve Inspection Data

1. Delete an Inspection Template - Company Level

The following tutorial applies to the website application only, no mobile

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions: 'Admin' level permissions on your project's Inspections tab.
  • Any template that you delete from your project level will not delete its duplicate from the Company level. If you would like to delete the template from your Company level, see Delete a Company Level Inspection Template.
  • Once you delete an inspection template from the Project level Inspections tab, any inspections tied to it will remain, but no one will be able to create an inspection based off of this template unless it is readded to the project.

Steps

  1. Navigate to your project's Inspections tab.
  2. Click on the orange Configure inspection settings... link on the right below your filter options.
  3. Click the red delete item.png to the right of any project templates you wish to delete. 
  4. If you try to delete a template that has inspections tied to it at the project level, you will receive the following message:

    (Note: Any inspections currently tied to the template will remain in the project, but once you delete the inspection template, you will not be able to create any new inspections from this template. If you wish to delete the inspection and the template, see Delete an Inspection for more information.)
     
  5. Confirm that you would like to delete the project template.
  6. If the delete was successful, you will see the following banner, and the template will not longer appear on your project.

2. Delete an Inspection - Project Level

The following tutorial applies to the website application only, no mobile

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions: 'Admin' level permissions on the Inspections tool.
  • Any inspection you delete will be archived in the Recycle Bin of the Inspections tool.
  • After you delete an inspection, you will no longer be able to edit the general information or related items, delete the inspection, or email forward the inspection's information.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the project's Inspections tool.
  2. Click View next to the inspection you wish to delete. 
    Note: You will notice a number after the title of your inspection. This number denotes the number of the type inspection you are performing. For example, if you have 7 inspections in Windows inspections, and you wish to create and perform another windows inspection, you will see 'Windows #8' as the title of the inspection for organizational purposes.
  3. Click the orange Delete button in the right.
    Note: You can delete an inspection even if you have already started performing it.

3. Retrieve an Inspection from the Recycle Bin

The following tutorial applies to the website application only, no mobile

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions: 'Admin' level permissions on the Inspections tab.
  • Any deleted Inspections will be archived in the Recycle Bin.
  • Deleted Inspection templates will not appear in the Recycle Bin. However, they will still be available to re-add to the project. See Add Inspection Templates to Your Project for more information.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the company's or project's Inspections tab.
  2. Under your filter views, click Recycle Bin.
  3. Click View next to the deleted inspection you would like to retrieve.
  4. Click the orange Restore button on the right. (Note: It will now appear in the Inspections log page.)
