Resolve a Punch List Item

Objective

To change the status of a punch list item to indicate whether or not the work on the item has been completed. 

Background

If a user is assigned to a punch list item, they will receive an email with a link to the punch list item. Users can then respond to that punch list item in Procore and mark it as resolved. Although the assignee can mark the punch list item as 'Resolved,' it is up to the user who created the item to mark it as 'Closed'. See "Close a Punch List Item" in the See Also section below. 

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permission:
    • 'Standard' or 'Admin' level users on the project's Punch List tool can only resolve an item if they are listed as the Assignee.
      OR
    • If you have 'Standard' or 'Read Only' permissions on the Punch List tool and your user account is assigned the 'Resolve Punch List Items Assigned to Users Within Same Company' granular permission, you will be able to resolve the item. See "Grant Granular Permissions in a Permission Template" in the See Also section below.
  • A status can also be changed from 'Resolved' to 'Unresolved' and vice versa at any time. 

Steps

Change the Status of Your Punch List Item from an Email
  1. Navigate to your email inbox that you have set up to receive emails from Procore.
  2. Open the punch list item notification email.
    Note: If you have multiple punch list items assigned to you within an hour, you will get one email containing the details of multiple items. In that case, you will need to click on the link of each item, or navigate to each item in Procore to respond to them.
  3. Click the link under "Punch List Item Details".

  4. Select the status you want to apply to the Punch List item next to 'Response Status.' Selecting 'Resolved' means that all work on the item has been completed and the Final Approver can close the item.

  5. Click Submit.
Change the Status of Your Punch List Item from the Web
  1. Navigate to the project's Punch List tool.
  2. In the "Response Status" column, you can select 'Unresolved' or 'Resolved.' Selecting 'Resolved' means that all work on the item has been completed and is ready for review.
  3. It is recommended that you also click View next to the item and add a response and an image for the GC to review.
