Delete Files/Folders

Also available on

Objective

To delete documents and folders in Procore's Documents tool.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permission:
    • To delete files and folders, 'Admin' level permission on the project's Documents tool.
      OR
    • To delete files and folders as a user with 'Standard' or 'Read-only' level permission on the project's Documents tool, the 'Delete Files and Folders' granular permission must be enabled on the permission template associated with your user account on the project. See Grant Granular Permissions in a Permission Template.
Note: Permission levels are tool-specific. For example, you can have 'Read-only' level permissions on the Company level Documents tool and 'Admin' level permissions on a project's Documents tool. Please keep this in mind when you are looking to perform tasks at different levels.
  • Additional Information:
    • You must also have permission to view the file/folder. See Manage Permissions for Files and Folders.
    • Anything you delete will automatically be put into your 'Recycle Bin' folder at the end of your file tree. If you delete a file or a folder by accident, you may navigate to the Recycle Bin to retrieve the file/folder by clicking on the download-icon.png icon.
      • If you have uploaded the files to the project level you will not be able to move them to the recycle bin on the company level.
    • You will not be able to remove empty folders at the Company level if they were uploaded at the Project level.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Company level Documents tool (if you are deleting a file uploaded to the Company level), or navigate to the Project level Documents tool (if you are deleting a file that was uploaded to the Project level).
  2. Using the left hand file tree, click to find the file or folder you want to delete.
  3. Click the orange Delete button on the right hand pane.
  4. Click OK to confirm that you would like to delete the selected file or folder.
