Export a Submittal


To export a submittal to one of the supported file formats.


You can download files to the PDF, CSV, or Excel format. A limited number of customers participating in the beta program can also:

  • PDF with Attachments. When attaching items to a submittal, many project user's upload a variety of materials (e.g., the submittal's cover page, the general contractor's review stamp, and other attachments, such as product specifications, drawings, user manuals, and more). When exporting a submittals, users can now have the ability to combine the cover sheet and other attachments into a single PDF. Users can also now rearrange these attachments so they are merged into the PDF in the order you specify. This saves users a number of extra steps they used to take to manually assemble PDFs using third-party PDF software. You can alternatively combine your selected attachments into a ZIP file. 

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permission:
    • 'Read Only' on the project's Submittals tool.
  • Supported Export File Format:
    • Portable Document Format (PDF)
    • PDF with Attachments
  • Additional Information:
    • The exported file is named using this convention: {Project Name}-Submittal{Submittal Number}-Rev {Revision Number}-{Submittal Title}.pdf.
    • The maximum number of file attachments that you can select to export in a single PDF is forty (40) attachments. 


  1. Navigate to the project's Submittals tool. 
  2. Locate the desired submittal and click View.

  3. Click Export and choose one of these options:
    • PDF
      Select this option to generate a PDF of the submittal. When the export is complete, this will open in a separate browser tab.
    • PDF with Attachments
      Select this option to choose the desired fields, rearrange the order of those files, and then download those files as either a Single PDF or ZIP file. 
      • To select the desired file(s), place a checkmark next to the desired file(s) or click Select All.
      • To rearrange the files in the desired order, grab the file by the vertical grip (⋮⋮) icon on the right-side of the menu. Then use a drag-and-drop operation to place the file in the desired order. 
  4. Click the Single PDF or .ZIP button.
    A success banner appears to confirm the job has started. If you are combining attachments, the system will send you an email to notify you when the export job is completed so you can download the file. An example of the email is shown below.
