Verify Progress and Actuals
Background
As work is performed in the field, tasks transition from "planned" to "actual." Procore uses the Actualization ("A") notation to indicate that a task has begun or finished based on real-world data. To maintain schedule health, the system also monitors for Verify Flags, which alert you when the data you've entered is logically inconsistent (e.g., reporting a task as finished when its finish date is still in the future).
Things to Consider
-
The "A" Notation: This appears automatically next to dates in the grid once progress is greater than 0%.
-
Data Integrity: A high-quality schedule should have all "Verify" flags resolved before being shared with stakeholders or exported to PDF.
Steps
Identify Actualized Tasks
-
Navigate to the Scheduling tool.
-
Review the Start and Finish columns in the task grid.
-
Look for the "A" symbol:
-
Start Date + A: The task has started (Percent Complete > 0%).
-
Finish Date + A: The task is 100% complete.
-
Resolve "Verify" Flags
-
Scan the task grid for a red flag icon in the status or date columns.
-
This icon appears when the system detects a logic conflict, such as:
-
Future Actuals: A task is marked 100% complete, but the actual finish date is set to a date in the future.
-
Invalid Progress: A task has a 0% progress but has an actual start date in the past.
-
-
To resolve the flag:
-
Click the Taskbar or the Date cell to open the edit menu.
-
Adjust the Percent Complete or the Dates so they align (e.g., if it's 100% done, ensure the finish date is today or in the past).
-
-
Once the logic is corrected, the red flag will disappear.
Monitor Actuals in Lookaheads
-
In the Lookahead tab, you can view how field actuals compare to the master schedule.
-
Note on Fetching: Currently, only non-actualized activities (0% progress) can be fetched from the master schedule into a lookahead. Once a task has an "A" notation, it must be managed via the progress updates in the master view.
