View and Manage Private and Public Markup Layers in the Document Management Tool (iOS)

regional availability
The Document Management tool is available to accounts in the following countries: United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. It is not yet available for Procore accounts in the U.S. To learn more, please reach out to your Procore point of contact.

Background

Previously, all markups were displayed in a single, combined list, which could cause visual clutter and offered no distinction between personal notes and team-wide markups. The introduction of Markup Workloads and Layers allows you to toggle between private and public spaces. This ensures that personal annotations remain separate from official project markups, providing a cleaner and more organized document review experience.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions: 'Read Only' or higher permissions on the project's Document Management tool.

  • Markup Spaces:

    • Private: Markups visible only to the user who created them.

    • Public: Markups shared and visible to all project members with permissions to view the document.

    • Workflow: Markups created as part of a specific document review workflow.

  • Selection Logic: Selecting a group or layer will automatically filter the drawing to show only the markups within that specific category.

Steps

Access and Toggle Markup Layers

  1. Open the Procore app on your iOS mobile device.

  2. Tap the project's Document Management tool.

  3. Tap the document you want to view.

  4. Tap the Markup icon in the viewer.

  5. Select a specific space from the list to filter markups:

    • Private: Tap to view only your personal markups.

    • Public: Tap to view markups shared with the project team.

    • Workflow: Tap to view markups created as part of a review process.
Note: When a layer is selected, the viewer will only populate the markups belonging to that specific list.

Manage Markup Groups and Drill Down

  1. While in a markup list, tap a Markup Group to select all items within that collection.

  2. To see individual items, tap the Arrow next to a group to drill down into the list of specific markups.

  3. Tap an individual markup in the list to automatically select and center that markup on the document.

Search and Filter Markups

  1. Tap the Search icon at the top of the markup panel.

  2. Enter a keyword or a specific user's name.

  3. Tap the Filter icon to refine the list by specific criteria, such as a user name.
Note: The list will update to show only those markups created by the selected user across both private and workflow spaces.
