Create Coordination Issues on a Drawing

Objective

To create coordination issues on a drawing.

Background

You can create coordination issues in three locations: the Procore Coordination Issues tool, the Procore BIM Plugin in Navisworks®, or directly on a drawing. Creating issues on a drawing is most efficient because it links the issue to the drawing, giving teams easy access to both.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions:
    • 'Standard' or 'Admin' level permissions on both the Coordination Issues and Drawings tools.
  • Additional Information:
    • Creating a coordination issue automatically adds the markup to the drawing for anyone with access to the Drawings tool.
    • When you create a coordination issue, it automatically includes a snapshot and a link to the original drawing. This helps you easily reference the drawing from the Coordination Issues tool.
    • For additional information about creating and linking issues to drawings, see Create or Link Coordination Issues to a Drawing in the Drawings tool.

Steps

You can attach coordination issues to a drawing in two ways: by placing a dedicated issue pin or by linking an issue to a (like a cloud or arrow).

Step 1: Open the Drawing in Markup View

Before adding an issue, open the drawing.

  1. Navigate to the project's Drawings tool.
  2. Find the drawing you want to work on and click Open.
  3. Click the Markup tool at the top of the viewer.

Step 2: Choose Your Method to Add an Issue

Decide how to show the issue on the drawing.

Method A: Use a Coordination Issue Pin

This method places a specific icon on the drawing to represent the issue.

  1. Click the Pins icon on the markup toolbar.

  2. If you don't see it, another pin type (like Photos or Punch Item) may be selected. Click that icon to expand the menu and find the Issue pin.

  3. Click directly on the drawing where you want to place the pin.
  4. Proceed to Step 3.

Method B: Attach to a Markup Shape

This method is useful when you want to highlight a larger area with a shape (like a cloud) and then link an issue to it.

  1. Select a standard markup tool (e.g., Cloud, Arrow, Text).
  2. Draw the shape on the desired area of the drawing.
  3. With the shape still selected, click the paperclip icon in the menu that appears and select Coordination Issue.
  4. Proceed to Step 3.

Step 3: Create a New Issue or Link an Existing One

After completing either method, you are prompted to choose an option.

To Create a New Issue

  1. Select Create New Coordination Issue.
  2. Fill out the information in the new issue form.
  3. Click Create.

To Link to an Existing Issue

  1. Select Link to Existing Coordination Issue.
  2. Search for and select the issue from the list. You can double-click the search box to see all issues in the project.

Step 4: Publish Your Markups

Your markups and linked issues are only visible to you until they are published.

  1. Select the pin or markup shape on the drawing.
  2. Click Publish from the toolbar.

This makes the issue visible to other team members. Procore also generates a snapshot of the markup and attaches it to the issue.
