Procore AI is construction-trained AI that works alongside your team in Procore. From the AI
side panel, anyone on a project can ask questions across their project data, analyze drawings, RFIs, submittals, and photos, and deploy specialized agents that draft and update work for review. You decide how to use it: quick answers, deeper analysis, agents that handle routine work, or automations that run on a schedule or in response to project events. The AI cites its sources, and every action it proposes is staged for a person to review and approve before anything changes in Procore.
Things to Consider
-
Prerequisites:
-
Your account must have an active subscription to one of the Procore Digital Coworker packages.
-
A Company Admin must enable the project and assign you a role. See Enable Procore AI. Otherwise you will not see the AI
option in your Procore side panel.
-
-
Credit consumption: Credits are consumed by every AI question, agent task, and background process such as storing and syncing your data. Learn more about AI credits.
-
Validation: AI can make mistakes. Always check all AI work, results, and answers against your own records to ensure accuracy.
Steps
You can ask complex questions about your project's data and deploy agents to work on your behalf or you can ask Procore AI questions about how Procore works, such as, How do I manage user permissions for the Directory tool?
Quick path
The controls default to Executive (Auto). Executive is the mode, and 'Auto' means the AI automatically selects the best agent for your request. To use Procore AI with these default settings, follow these steps:
-
Click
AI on the right to open the Procore AI side panel. -
Type a question or request into the prompt composer. For example, type, Summarize all open RFIs related to electrical work and draft an email to the electrical subcontractor, for my review.
-
Click the
send arrow or press ENTER on your keyboard to submit the request. -
Review the AI's response. Click
Reasoning to view the step-by-step logic the AI used, or click the Citations to view the AI's source when it uses indexed project data or web search results.
Customization path
Customize the prompt controls by adding data sources or access to other applications such as your scheduling platform in order to achieve more complex or precise goals. Explore the many configuration options below, but for a more detailed tutorial on this topic, see Optimize Procore AI Results Using Prompt Controls.
-
If the Procore AI side panel is not already open, click
AI on the right. -
Choose your mode. Click the mode name above the prompt composer to choose one that aligns with your goal.
Note: 'Ask' mode cannot support certain connections via the 'Actions' menu nor the use of agents to create or modify items in Procore. Select a higher mode for those features.AI Mode

Note: Only 'Execute' mode allows you to select from the Actions menu.
-
Select a specific agent: Click the mode name (e.g., Ask, Execute) to toggle off
Auto-Select Agent and select a different agent from the dropdown list.-
Note: Some agents do not operate at full capacity in 'Ask' mode. When using Procore AI with a specific agent, it's best to choose Execute mode.
-
You can also create an agent or customize an existing agent.
-
-
Choose your LLM: Click the
model icon at the top right of your message field to select your preferred Large Language Model (LLM) (e.g., Gemini, GPT, Claude). By default it's set to Gemini. Scroll to see all the options. -
Choose your actions, tools, or custom MCP: If you are in 'Execute' mode, click the Actions menu in the chat bar to toggle on specific capabilities (like Procore Enterprise, Web Search, Calculate, or a custom MCP server).
-
Procore provides the Procore Enterprise action and enables it by default, but you can add others such as Slack. Learn more about how to optimize AI responses using these controls.
-
-
Attach data sources: Click the
paperclip icon to attach local files from your computer or data from outside apps, like Box, Bridgit, or Acumatica. This gives Procore AI the ability to consider data from these sources when it provides an answer or output for you. -
Use prompts or memories: Click Prompts to open your Prompt Library, or click the
brain icon to view the Agent's saved memories (such as your name, email, and time zone). -
Type a question or request into the prompt composer. For example, type, Audit the attached submittal against the LEED requirements in our project manual and current EPA regulations via the web. If there's a conflict, summarize the discrepancies and draft a rejection letter for the subcontractor.
-
Click the
up arrow or press ENTER on your keyboard to submit the request. -
Review the AI's response. Click
Reasoning to view the step-by-step logic the AI used, or click the Citations to view the AI's source when it uses indexed project data or web search results. -
To start a new conversation, click the
send arrow in the upper left and click + New Chat.
