Enable Copilot

Copilot Availability

Procore Copilot is generally available to customers in North America who license the required tool set. Additional beta features are being made available gradually and can be enabled on an opt-in basis.

For international customers who license the required tool set, two Copilot beta experiences will gradually become available. The core beta experience offers access to Copilot in Procore's Global Search. The second beta offers additional features. You can choose to opt into either or both beta experiences if your company licenses the required tool set.

Note: Copilot only answers questions in English at this time, and uses United States English construction terminology.

See Enable Copilot to learn how to activate Copilot or its beta features.

 Caution
Like all AI tools, Copilot's answers might not be entirely accurate. You must evaluate any recommendations or suggestions against your own reasonable policies and procedures before taking action. We recommend human review of any AI-generated outputs.

Objective

Learn how to activate Copilot or Copilot beta features for your company, and enable Copilot on projects.

Background

Copilot is Procore's AI assistant tool. It can respond to questions asked in a conversational style, like the kind of question you might ask a coworker. Some Copilot features are currently in beta, so you must sign a beta agreement to gain access.

Things to Consider

  • Copilot is generally available to companies in North America, and is available as a beta internationally.
  • Important! You must assign users permissions to Copilot for it to be available to them. See Manage Permission Templates.
  • Copilot requires approximately 24 hours from the time of activation to index your project data before use. It will not be visible until 24 hours have passed.
  • Required User Permissions:
    • To enable Copilot at the Project level, 'Admin' permissions on the Project level Admin tool.
    • To enable Copilot at the Company level, 'Admin' permissions on the Company level Admin tool.
    • To use Copilot on a project, 'Standard' level permissions on Copilot.

  1. Navigate to the Company level Admin tool.
  2. Under the Tool Settings menu, click Copilot.
  3. Toggle the switch to enable Copilot for your company.
  4. Optional: Toggle the switch to enable Copilot beta features for your company.
Note: When enabling beta features, or enabling Copilot as a beta in countries outside of North America where it is not yet generally available, you may be prompted to sign a beta agreement if one has not already been signed for your organization.

2. Enable Copilot on Projects

You can enable Copilot on projects in one of two ways.

  6. Please allow approximately 24 hours for Copilot to index your project data before use.
 Tip
Want to make Copilot automatically available on all new projects moving forward? Enable Copilot on your project template(s).

3. Give Project Users Permission to Use Copilot

  1. Assign 'Standard' level permissions to Copilot by updating users' project permission templates. See Edit a Project Permissions Template for detailed instructions.
 Notes
  • Copilot must be activated on at least one (1) project in your company for it to appear as an option on any Global Project Permissions Template.
  • Copilot must be activated on the related project for it to appear as an option on a Project-Specific Permissions Template.
  • All project users with 'Admin' level permissions to the Project Directory tool will have permissions to Copilot enabled by default when it's activated on that project.
  • Assign 'Standard' level permissions to users who are not project administrators to allow them to interact with the feature.
  • 'Read Only' permissions are not available for Copilot at this time.
  • While and 'Admin' level permissions can be selected, you should NOT assign that level of permission at this time. 'Admin' level permissions might include further capabilities in the future, but at this time do not offer any capabilities beyond those available to users with 'Standard' level permissions.
  • Copilot respects individual user permissions when answering questions about project data. Users with permissions to Copilot can only receive answers about project data to which they have access.
