Configure Overtime Rules for Timesheets

Objective

To configure company and project level overtime rules in Company Timesheets.

Background

You can configure overtime rules to automatically apply overtime and double time rates. Company rules are applied to all projects by default and apply to Timesheets, Timecards, My Time, and Daily Log Timecard entries. You can create project rule sets that override the company rules, and apply them to specific projects.

Steps

Enable Overtime Management and Configure Company Overtime Rules

  1. Navigate to the company's Timesheets tool. 
  2. Click the Configure Settings icons-settings-gear.png icon.
  3. Click the Overtime Management tab.
  4. Move the toggle icon-toggle-on-android.png to the ON position to 'Enable Overtime Management'.
  5. Configure Overtime Time Types
     Important
    Time types should match your ERP or payroll system to streamline payment processing. See Configure Advanced Settings: Company Level Timesheets.
    1. Select the time type to apply to Regular Time.
    2. Select the time type to apply to Overtime Time.
    3. Select the time type to apply to Double Time.
    4. Click Next.
  6. Create 'Company Overtime Rules' that are applied by default to all projects.
    Note: Regular time is applied until employees exceed the thresholds you configure.
    1. Mark the checkbox to Apply Weekly Overtime Rules.
      • Enter the number of hours in a week after which overtime is applied.
      Mark the checkbox to Apply Daily Overtime Rules.
      • Enter the number of hours in a day after which overtime is applied.
    2. Mark the checkbox to Apply Daily Double Time Rules.
      • Enter the number of hours in a day after which double time is applied.
  7. Click Enable.
 Note
After Overtime Rules have been enabled, you can make changes at any time by clicking Edit for the relevant section.

Create Project Overtime Rules and Assign to Projects

  1. Navigate to the company's Timesheets tool. 
  2. Click the Configure Settings icons-settings-gear.png icon.
  3. Click Create New.
  4. Enter the name of the 'Project Rule Set'.
    Note: Regular time is applied until employees exceed the thresholds you configure.
  5. Mark the checkbox to Apply Weekly Overtime Rules.Mark the checkbox to Apply Daily Overtime Rules.
    • Enter the number of hours in a week after which overtime is applied.
    • Enter the number of hours in a day after which overtime is applied.
  6. Mark the checkbox to Apply Daily Double Time Rules.
    • Enter the number of hours in a day after which double time is applied.
  7. Save the rule set:
    • Click Save.
      Note: You can assign the rule set to projects at a later time by clicking the link in the 'Assing projects' column.
    • Click Save and Assign to Projects.
      1. Mark the checkboxes for the projects you want to assign the rule set to.
      2. Click Save.
 Note
To edit what projects rule sets are assigned to, click the hyperlink in the 'Assigned Projects' column, select the projects, and click Save.
