Create a Resource Request
Objective
To create a resource requests.
Background
Resource requests efficiently inform your team that you need resources for a particular project. Create a resource request when you need a resource but aren't sure who to assign, or if you lack the permissions to create assignments yourself.
After a request is created, a resource can be assigned to fill that request. See Fill a Resource Request.

You can create requests from three (3) places in Resource Planning:
Create a Resource Request from the Requests List
- Navigate to the Company level Resource Planning tool.
- Click Requests and select Requests List from the drop-down menu.
- Click New.
- Fill out the 'General' request information.
- Optional: Custom Fields. Enter information for any request custom fields. See Configure Custom Fields for Resource Planning.
- Optional: Select Scope of Work to describe the scope of work.
Note: Information entered here is automatically added to the assignment alert for the assignee who is fulfilling the request. See What is an assignment alert in Resource Planning? - Optional: Select Assignment Instructions to provide additional instructions.

Create a Resource Request from Assignments Boards or Gantt (Legacy)
- Navigate to the Company level Resource Planning tool.
- Click Assignments and select Boards or Gantt (Legacy) from the drop-down list.
OR
From the Project Name heading bar, click the ellipsis , and select Create Request. - Under the desired project, click the ellipsis , and select Create Request.
- Fill out the 'General' request information.
- Optional: Custom Fields. Enter information for any request custom fields. See Configure Custom Fields for Resource Planning.
- Optional: Select Scope of Work to describe the scope of work.

Create a Resource Request from Assignment Gantt
- Navigate to the Company level Resource Planning tool.
- Click Assignments and select Gantt (Beta).
- On the list, right click the project, category or subcategory for the assignment and select New Request.
Note: You can also hover over the project, category, or subcategory and click the vertical ellipsis and select New Request. - Fill out the 'Details' request information.
- Job Title Needed. Select a Job Title from the drop-down menu.
- Quantity. Select how many of these requests should be created.
- Project. Select the project from the drop-down menu.
- Category. Select the category.
- Subcategory. Select the subcategory.
- Fill out the 'Schedule' information.
- Start Date. Enter the date the work assignment starts.
- End Date. Enter the date the work assignment ends.
- Move the 'Set Assignment by Start Week and Duration' toggle ON . Then enter the Start Time and End Time.
OR
Move the 'Set Assignment by Allocation' toggle ON . Then enter the Percent Allocated for the request. - Work Days. Mark the checkbox for each work day for the request.
- Tags. Select tags from the drop-down menu.
- Fill out the Additional Information. See Configure Custom Fields for Resource Planning.
- Optional: Enter Scope of Work to describe the scope of work.
- Optional: Enter Assignment Instructions to provide additional instructions.
- Optional: Enter Comments.
- Click Create.
