Add Tiered Locations to a Project
| BACK - Lesson 2 | Current Lesson 3 | Lesson 4 - NEXT |
In Procore, tiered locations give users the ability to link different Procore objects (e.g., Drawings, Documents, RFIs, Submittals, and more) to specific locations on a job site. This helps project team members to pinpoint the exact location(s) on a job site where a defect was observed, where equipment is to be installed, or where a project change order occurred. Locations are set up and managed by your Project Controls Specialist. Email Procore@tuckerhirise.com for any issues or changes.
Standard Format
- All Locations should be ALL CAPS.
- Above grade floors should follow the convention 3RD FLOOR (with the number first) to match how you would say it if you were working on site.
- Below grade floors should be P1, B1, etc to match the drawings.
- 1st or ground floor should be listed as 1ST (GROUND) FLOOR. Mezzanines should be listed as 1st (GROUND) FLOOR MEZZANINE.
- Rooftop levels such as mechanical platforms should be listed as 46TH FLOOR (MECHANICAL PLATFORM).
- Stairs and Elevators should be created as 1st tier locations.
- A 1st tier location should be added called MULTIPLE (SEE DESCRIPTION BELOW) to accommodate where items affect multiple floors or areas. Procore does not allow multiple locations to be selected within tools and we do not want to create new locations for specific use cases such as 3rd-6th and 12th-23rd floor, suites 04, 06, and 08, etc. 1st tier locations should also be added for EXCAVATION and FOUNDATION
- Units should be added following the format “UNIT 305”. A designation for room type such as “(1BD + D)” can be added to the end if desired but is not necessary.
- Once all Units have been created, Print QR Codes for units. Ensure that you generate QR codes before adding the final tier for rooms within a unit such as Bedroom or Kitchen
- Navigate to the project's Admin tool.
- In the 'Project Settings' menu, click Locations.
- Add a location as follows:
- To add the first tier, click +Add 1st Tier. Then type a name for the location (e.g., Parking Lot A) and click the checkmark or press ENTER (Note: If you make a mistake, you can alternatively click the RED 'x' to remove your entry).
- To add a second tier, click +Add 2nd Tier. Then type a name for the sub-location (e.g., Level Three).
- To add a third tier, click +Add 3rd Tier. Then type a name for the sub-location (e.g., West).
- Once all Units have been created, Print QR Codes for units. Ensure that you generate QR codes before adding the final tier for rooms within a unit such as Bedroom or Kitchen
- If you want to continue adding sub-locations, click +Add 4th Tier, +Add 5th Tier, and so on. You can create an unlimited number of tiers.
