Import Markup from another Prime Contract

Background

The Import from Prime Contract feature, allows you to pull existing markup configurations from one Prime Contract to another within the same project. This is specifically beneficial for ERP-integrated workflows where project templates cannot be used for markup creation. Instead of manually reconfiguring complex markup rules, you can quickly replicate them to ensure financial consistency across all contracts.

Things to Consider

  • Data Mapping: The following fields are carried forward during the import:

    • Markup Name.

    • Percentage (%).

    • Calculation Type.

    • Application Criteria.

  • ERP-Specific Defaults:

    • The Export Markup to Estimate field uses your company project settings by default.

    • The system selects the first available ERP Prime Contract Item for this field.

  • Required User Permissions:

    • 'Standard' or 'Admin' level permissions on the project's Prime Contracts tool.

Prerequisites

  • Your project needs two or more Prime Contracts.

  • You must set up financial markups on at least one Prime Contract.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the project's Prime Contracts tool.

  2. Click the Financial Markup tab of the contract you want to add markups to.

  3. Click Import from Prime Contract to open the sidebar.
Note: This action triggers a sidebar overlay.

  4. Select the source contract from the Prime Contract drop-down menu.
Note: If only one other Prime Contract exists, the system automatically fills the name in this field.

  5. Click Import.
The system copies the markup settings from the source contract to your current contract.
Note: Using the import feature helps prevent errors when dealing with complex, multi-tiered markups such as combined horizontal overhead and vertical profit markups by ensuring the calculation logic is identical across all your project's contracts.
