Create a New Project with Prime Contract Markups

Background

The pre-configured financial markups on any Prime Contract within a Project Template will now automatically carry over. This automation eliminates the need for users to repeatedly recreate complex, similar markup rules for new projects, which in turn ensures consistent financial calculations across all jobs.

Prerequisites

  • Create a project template that includes a Prime Contract.

  • Configure the desired financial markups within the Prime Contract template.

Things to Consider

  • The following markup items carry over from the template:

    • Name,

    • %,

    • Export to Estimate (ERP Only),

    • Calculation Type, and

    • Application Criteria.

    • You need to wait a few minutes for the project to be fully created and for the Prime Contract and markups to be copied over to the new project.

  • Required User Permissions:

    • 'Admin' level permissions on the project's Prime Contracts tool.
      OR

    • 'Read Only' or 'Standard' level permissions on the project'sPrime Contracts tool with the 'Create Prime Contracts' granular permission enabled on your permissions template.

  • Permission Levels:

    • Company level: 'Admin' level permissions on the Templates tool.

    • Project level: 'Admin' level permissions on the Prime Contracts tool.

Steps

  1. Log in to the Procore web application.

  2. Navigate to the Company level Portfolio tool.

  3. Click Create Project. For more information, see Create a New Project.

  4. Select the project template that includes your pre-configured Prime Contract markups.

  5. Click Create.

  6. Wait a few minutes while the system creates your project.

  7. Go to the new project's Prime Contracts tool to verify that the markups have been copied.

Note: If your company uses complex markup calculations, we recommend configuring them at the template level. Doing this once prevents errors and ensures every project manager follows the same financial standards.
