Add a Photo to an Inspection so that it Populates in the Photos Tool

Objective

To add photos to an inspection so that you can reference the photos in both the Inspections and the Photos tool.

Background

When this feature is enabled, photos added to inspection items will automatically populate in the Photos tool under an album called "Photos from Inspections."

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions:
    • To add photos to an inspection, 'Standard' or 'Admin' level permissions on the Project level Inspections tool.
      AND
    • To view the private 'Photos from Inspections' album, 'Admin' level permissions on the project's Photos tool.
  • Additional Information:
    • If you attach photos to an inspection that is marked as private, the photos will appear in the “Photos from Inspections” album but they will be marked as private and only visible to ‘Admin’ users on the Photos tool.
      • If you attach photos to an inspection that is not marked as private, anyone with permissions to view the “Photos from Inspections” album will be able to view the photos.
    • If you do not want to use this feature, you may turn off photo aggregation in the Photos configuration page.
    • Photos that are linked to an inspection will have an "Origin" link on the photo which links to the inspection where it was originally attached.
Note: This only applies to photos that have been uploaded from the Attachments area within the General Information section of the inspection.
      • Users with 'None' permissions on the Inspections tool, but access to the photo in the Photos tool will see the origin, but they will not see a link to the inspection.
