Self Upgrade to v2 Workflow
Background
Workflow admins can upgrade a tool from legacy workflows to New Workflows without interrupting workflows that are already in progress. Before upgrading, Procore checks whether all projects with legacy workflows for the tool have a configured New Workflow. After the upgrade, new legacy workflows cannot be started. In-flight legacy workflows remain in progress and can still be responded to from the New Workflows side panel. Existing legacy workflow history is preserved.
Things to Consider
-
Upgrading to Workflows V2 is irreversible. The upgrade is available only for tools that support Workflows V2.
-
The upgrade applies to the entire tool and cannot be performed for individual projects.
-
Before the upgrade, all projects with legacy workflows for the tool must have a configured New Workflow.
-
If any project is not ready, the upgrade is blocked until a New Workflow is configured for that project.
-
In-flight legacy workflows are not restarted or changed by the upgrade. They remain available in the New Workflows side panel.
-
After the upgrade, you cannot start new legacy workflows.
-
Existing legacy workflow history is preserved.
-
Existing permission-based views in the Workflow side panel remain unchanged.
Note: Users can now start and respond to legacy (V1) workflows in the New Workflows side panel. Existing workflow steps, routing, approvers, and history remain unchanged, allowing in-flight legacy workflows to continue uninterrupted as tool teams transition to the New Workflows experience.
