Create a Permission Template

 Important
The new Permissions tool will be soon replacing the 'Permissions Templates' section of the Company level Directory tool. See Add a New Permission Template to the Company Directory for the version of this article using the Directory tool.

Objective

To create a new permission template in the company's Permissions tool.

Background

In Procore, Role-Based Permissions (RBP) are used to manage user access to different Procore tools. Access for each role is defined in a permission template. By default, Procore provides its clients with several role-based permission templates. For details, see What is a permission template? and What are the default permission templates in Procore?

There are two types of permission templates in Procore:

  • A global permission template (a.k.a. company permission template) can be assigned to any user on any project in your company's Procore account. Global permission templates are created and managed in the company's Permissions tool.
  • A project specific permission template (a.k.a. project permission template) can only be assigned to a user who has been added to the corresponding project's Directory. Project specific permission templates are created in either the company's Permissions tool or in the Project level Directory tool and managed in the company's Permissions tool.
