Manage Project Templates

Objective

Manage project templates, including activating and deactivating them and seeing what projects are built upon which templates in your company's Procore account.

Background

In Procore, you can configure a project to use as a template for creating new projects. This allows you to save the template project's common settings and then later apply those settings when creating a new project. Company admin can visit the Project Templates page to manage the company's project templates and view which projects were created from a template.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions:
    • 'Admin' level permissions on the Company level Admin tool.
  • Additional Information:
    • You may create an unlimited number of project templates.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Company level Admin tool.
  2. Select Project Templates from the 'Project Settings' menu in the right panel to see a list of all project templates for the company.
  3. Follow the steps for the action you want to take:

Set a Default Template

Set a default template if you'd like it pre-loaded when someone creates a new project. The project creator can manually change the template to a different one if needed.

  1. Find the template you want to set as default for the company and click the more menu icon-ellipsis-vertical.png.
  2. Click Set as default.
  3. Confirm you choice by clicking Set as default.
The template now has a 'Default' label in the list and item views.

Remove a Default Template

If you do not want the company to have default template, remove the current default (if there is one) and project creators can manually select a template or create a project without one.

  1. Find the current default template and click the more menu icon-ellipsis-vertical.png next to it.
  2. Select Remove as default.
  3. Confirm your choice.

View Projects Created from This Template

View a list of all projects created from a specific template.

  1. Click the number in the 'Assigned Projects' column next to the template you want more information about.
This opens a list of all projects created from that template, including whether each project is active.
  2. Click a project name to open the project. Use the sort and search features to filter the list as needed.
