Why am I receiving an error about empty files?
Background
In Procore Drive and certain areas of the Procore web and mobile applications, you might occasionally see one of the following error messages when uploading files:
- Failed to upload files. Empty files are not supported.
- One or more of your files is an empty file (0 bytes) and cannot be uploaded. Please try uploading a bigger file.
Answer
Procore Drive and certain other file upload tools across the Procore application do not support upload of empty files.
Empty file uploads most commonly occur when you drag-and-drop one or more files from a cloud storage tool outside of Procore into a Procore application. As a best practice, always download a local copy of the file to your machine before uploading to Procore. Without the local copy, the file may appear to upload, but its contents does not.
This error lets you know the file isn't uploading properly, and further action is required. To resolve the error, make sure a local copy of the file exists on your machine and retry the file upload.
