60 Engineering Design Review Checklist
Objective
The 60% Engineering Design Review is a process that consists of completing a fillable form along with creating/responding to a submittal workflows and completing an inspection in Procore. It is followed by submitting all redlines back to the Contracted Designer via the (Gas) Contracted Design Transmittal.
| Instructions for the (Gas) Contracted Design Transmittal |
There are written instructions below (which may also be downloaded as a PDF for reference) as well as video instruction.
Steps
Part 1 Overview:
- The FUS/PM will open and complete their section of the fillable form and create the submittal and its workflow for that form. Below is the workflow :

NOTE:
- Steps of the process flow MAY be excluded under the following conditions:
- Exclude Pipeline Ops:
- Under 3" PE Poly pipe with no weld on fittings
- 4" PE below 1000' runs
- Replacing Cathodic Cables medium pressure pipe with no fitting required
- PCF's on medium pressure equal to 2" or below
- Exclude Cathodic Protection:
- Poly replacement with no cathodic
- Renewal of poly service 2" and smaller - EXCEPTION: meter vaults require CP - CP 10 list stranded steel segments
- Steel to steel replacement without valves, ISO joints, bond cables, and or any other cathodic fitting and equipment
- Exclude Welding:
- New poly installation 2" and below with no steel welding
- 2" steel replacement and below
- Welding cathodes on medium pressure pipe
- Exclude Engineering:
- Welding cathode cables or adding anode bags on medium pressure without any other equipment
- Exclude Pipeline Ops:
Part 1: FUS/PM Creating and Completing the Form:
- Project Home Page

- At the Project Home Page, select the Project Tools dropdown and go to the Forms Tool.

- Click the orange +Create button in the upper right hand side and select the 60% Engineering Design Review Checklist.

- FUS/PM will complete the top section and input signature(s) as applicable to them. A signature above a section now indicates that all items beneath signature blocks have been reviewed. Under the Form Info section, the name could be altered to add design percentage.

- There are areas throughout the form that have checkboxes within line items and those that apply to an entire section.

- Once all areas for the FUS/PM have been entered, click the orange Create button at the bottom righthand side of the screen. Note: the Create button may be clicked at any time and the work will be saved and documented in the event that the review cannot be completed in one sitting. However, it is highly encouraged to complete filling the form in one sitting so the saved from on record is complete for each user transition.

- Once the form is created, Users will see the following Form Info screen appear. The PDF in the Form PDF field shows most recent version of the completed form.

Part 1: Following Workflow Users Opening, Completing and Updating the Form:

- Complete all asterisked fields.
- Title
- Submittal Type (choose Engineering Design Review with appropriate percentage from dropdown)
- Responsible Contractor (Designer Company Name)
- Received From - should be the individual External Designer or YOU if an internal design
- Distribution List
- Attach File(s) - attach the design to be reviewed

- Attach plans and any other pertinent information by either dragging and dropping files or clicking the “Attach Files” and upload from your computer, USB or other source available in the dropdown.

- Enter Submittal Workflow - workflow MUST be as follows and dues dates according to Standard Design Turnaround Time (link to Service Level Agreement HERE) remember that the days calculate CALENDAR days not working days):
- Step 1 - must have ALL boxes checked in front of user Cathodic Protection and Pipeline Ops should be in ONE step with BOTH boxes checked (which should be the default).
- Cathodic Protection Review - may NOT be an individual person (will auto populate appropriate name)
- Pipeline Ops Review - mat NOT be an individual person (will auto populate appropriate names)
- Step 2 - Region Engineering - may NOT be an individual person
- Step 3 - Eddie Estrada for Welding
- Step 4 - FUS
- Step 1 - must have ALL boxes checked in front of user Cathodic Protection and Pipeline Ops should be in ONE step with BOTH boxes checked (which should be the default).
-
NOTE: For Region Engineering, choose the name “Region Engineering” as the user as they have someone assigning their workloads and will forward to the individual person whom they want to respond. For Cathodic Protection and Pipeline Ops choose "Cathodic Protection Review and Pipeline Ops Review" to auto-populate names of the current reviewers.
NOTE:
- Steps of the process flow MAY be excluded under the following conditions:
- Exclude Pipeline Ops:
- Under 3" PE Poly pipe with no weld on fittings

- Exclude Pipeline Ops:
- When all contact steps are added in the workflow, scroll down and click the Create & Send Emails button.

- Created submittal with plans attached and proper workflow:

Once the design review and submittal workflow are completed, you must close the submittal and return the marked up design to the design contractor via a separate (Gas) Contracted Design Transmittal correspondence marked for 60% in the Correspondence tool of the Project. Instructions are HERE.
