Daily Log Best Practices

The following are practices that will help to increase efficiency and accuracy of your daily logs.

1.     Make sure that everyone has added their daily log information before the superintendent completes the day.

a.     Once a day has been closed it is best if it stays closed even though it can be edited if needed.

2.     Because information doesn’t need to be added multiple times by multiple people, as a superintendent you can delegate sections of the daily log to other P&C employees working for you to lighten your load and increase efficiency. If the job is being tracked and pictures are being taken enough to accurately track the progress and condition of the job site, the specific person who fills out that information isn’t as important.

a.     Certain sections of the daily log such as “manpower” will need to be filled out by the superintendent, but job progress can be tracked by other P&C employees.

3.     Enter as much information as you can throughout the day as you notice it.

a.     Procore rewards smaller, still accurate, information entries, compared the one big entry at the end of the day. The information will be more specific, organized, and helpful to the project in addition to taking less time and effort overall to enter in.
