JLG Lull Greasing/Maintainence

Objective 

Many joints, linkages and moving parts on your heavy-duty equipment are designed to move on a layer of oil. Just as your engine needs oil for proper lubrication and to avoid friction, the moving parts of your equipment need grease for smooth movement and to eliminate wear from heat and friction. 

Things to Consider 

Every 50 running hours the machine needs to be greased.  

Greasing Lulls 

• When greasing the Lull you will need the following:  

• Grease Gun 

• Gloves  

• Towels/Cloths 

• Extra Tubes of Grease 

• Choose the grease recommended by the manufacturer. 

• Locate your grease points (diagram below). It’s a good idea to grease them in the same order every time, so you establish a routine and don’t miss any. 

• Inspect grease points to ensure there aren’t any missing or damage.  

• Clean all grease points to prevent dirt and dust from entering joints.  

• Remove all the old grease before using new grease, as some grease is not compatible with others.  

• Attach grease nozzle and pump until you see grease exiting the joints.  

• After greasing all points of machine, you will need to move the boom up and down, in and out, this will help the grease move and coat all joints.
