ELEVATOR - SCOPE ITEMS

  1. Coordinate pit depths, hoistway dimensions, and overhead clearance requirements between Architectural and Structural plans and elevator company requirements.  Owner will need to make decision on speed and capacity in order to finalize this.
  2. Buy run time for other trades use to punch out the shafts
  3. Buy temporary use as needed without affecting Owner’s warranty period.
  4. Buy pit ladders from elevator sub. If not an option, coordinate with misc metals scope.
  5. Coordinate interface with access control / CCTV system.  Buy provisions with traveling cable, or additional traveling cable, with capacity for future card reader and camera, discuss with owner.  Cabling spec will be required from access control sub.
  6. Buy ceiling system with lights from elevator sub.
  7. Establish installation durations during final scope meeting.  On taller buildings, a double jump on the rails may be required in order to meet schedule.
  8. Coordinate voltages with electrical.
  9. Machine-room-less systems may require a closet, coordinate location and distances with elevator company and Architect.
  10. Buy one (1) set of quilted, soil resistant, fire retardant wall pads with hooks in all cars.
  11. Identify if separator beams and rails will be installed with wedge anchors or embeds (wedge anchors preferred).  If shaft is CMU, be sure to grout solid.
  12. If not connected to generator, be sure to buy battery lowering in order to provide recall operation that is in compliance with local AHJ and Fire Marshall requirements.

 

ELEVATOR - FIELD & QC ITEMS

  1. Obtain separator beam elevations and details, identify the need for any lally columns at mid slab attachment points.

 

  1. Elevator company will require ‘permanent power’ characteristics prior to starting installation, temp electrical service must be sized to accommodate this.
    1. Verify all pre-mobilization site requirements are met.
  2. Check plumbness of shaft as it is being built.
    1. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Survey every 3 floors and 4 points
  3. Coordinate thickness of flooring in elevator lobbies.
  4. Verify that hoistway is properly ventilated.
  5. Verify hoist beam and separator beam attachment details.
  6. Verify rough opening requirements and header beam details.
  7. Is fire sprinkler required in the shaft?
  8. Check door frame details and wall thicknesses (include marble, wood or other special finishes).
  9. Coordinate date that the air conditioning needs to be operational in the machine room / controller closet.
  10. Have you identified a convenient, dry storage area for materials?
  11. Identify any elevators that open to the exterior and review overhang condition.
  12. Phone service will be needed for final inspection, provide adequate lead time for service providers.
