Below are the notable changes to the project's Estimating tool in 2023.
You can now search for model objects when viewing a 3D model in the Estimating tool. See Search for Model Objects in Estimating.
There is now an enhanced estimating layout option that provides a simplified view of estimates and gives you greater control when exploring your estimate details in Procore. See Procore Estimating: Enhanced Estimating Layout.
ERP Cost Codes can now be added to the Cost Catalog for ERP-integrated companies. When using the Cost Catalog, you ERP codes can be applied across all projects using the Estimating and Bid Board tools. These cost codes are also added to your budget when you send an estimate to the budget, providing consistency across your workflow. See Add Items to a Cost Catalog.
When looking at a bid proposal on the bid tab, you can preview the cover page or appendix page by clicking the open in new tab icon. See Generate a Bid Proposal.
Users with the Enhanced Estimating Layout can now edit the description for cost items in line on the Estimating tab. Previously, you needed to click the ellipsis and edit the item. See Edit an Estimate.
If you made changes to quantities in your estimate but want to reset them to the original takeoff quantities, you can now take bulk actions to reset multiple line items at once. See Edit an Estimate.
You can move takeoff layers to a new group. See Manage Takeoffs.
Cost codes and cost types can now be configured at company level with the same settings that are available when sending an estimate to the budget in the project's Estimating tool. These settings are applied by default to all projects to provide more consistency. You can still override budget codes as needed in the project's Estimating tab. See Configure Default Estimating Settings.
Procore has updated the bulk functions to expand or collapse takeoff groups, and to show and hide takeoff layers. Additionally, you can now bulk delete takeoff layers. See Manage Takeoffs.
When creating takeoff layers, you can lock layers that you have finished or are not using. When locked, you cannot create or edit measurements for the takeoff layer. This allows you to indicate which measurements are complete and prevents accidentally moving measurements in different layers when working on the same drawing. You can unlock layers to make changes at any time. See Manage Takeoffs.
There is a new snap to points feature available when managing takeoffs. Snap to points gives you greater control when creating objects for your takeoffs. See Manage Takeoffs.
There is a new preview window available when sending estimate data to the budget. This new feature allows you to view and adjust how estimate costs will be allocated to the project's budget. See Send an Estimate to the Budget.
The new budget code feature let's you apply WBS budget codes to relevant estimate line items in Procore. Previously, estimate items were only connected to the cost code and cost type in the cost catalog. This feature strengthens Procore's Estimating connection with Procore’s Project Financials tools. See Procore Estimating: Apply WBS Budget Codes to an Estimate.
The new 'Actions' drop-menu easily makes available the following options for estimate line items: send to budget, create purchase order, and create prime contract. Previously, there was only a 'send to budget' button that showed options for creating a purchase order and prime contract after being clicked. Now you can see all options from one menu. See Send an Estimate to the Budget, Create a Prime Contract from an Estimate and Create a Purchase Order from an Estimate.
The ability to copy a group within an estimate from one project to another project is now available. This feature saves time during the estimating process when pricing similar projects. Previously, groups could only be copied between estimates within the same project. See Copy a Group to Another Project.
Unit of measure options are now available for catalog item types in the Estimating tool. Previously, 'each' was the only measurement option for Equipment, Subcontractor, Travel, and Custom catalog item types. Cost Catalog Excel templates have also been updated. See Add Items to a Cost Catalog.
Procore has released a 3D takeoff feature that allows you to add takeoffs directly on Revit® files. See Add 3D Model Takeoffs. As you might have both drawings and models on a project, this feature allows you to use both sources of information within the Estimating tool to perform takeoffs and create estimates more efficiently based on your workflow.
This Estimating tool feature is only available for bids sent with bid forms as part of the new Bid Management Enhanced Experience. Grouping by Requested Bid Item allows you to organize bid items by scope of work. See Add an Estimate.
A drop-down menu with unit of measurement options is now available when creating takeoffs within the Estimating tool. See Add Takeoffs.
This feature can be used to import external bill of materials information from a previous source into a new project. Previously, only pricing information of existing projects could be updated and imported within the Estimating tab. See Add an Estimate.
If you have multiple estimates and change orders that you would like to merge into one estimate, you can now use the merge feature. This allows you to combine the group items of multiple estimates and change orders into one single estimate without deleting the original estimate. See Merge Estimates.
Procore has added a new 'Cost Code' column to the Estimating tab to allow you to quickly select a cost code for a line item. Previously, cost codes could only be selected through the Edit Item menu. See Edit an Estimate.
