Create Budget Code Attributes for Project Work Breakdown Structure
Objective
To set up budget code attributes in a project's work breakdown structure for later use in the Project Budget tool.
Background
With Budget Code Attributes, teams create and assign unique attributes in the project's Work Breakdown Structure for use in the Project Budget tool. This improves your team's ability to analyze budget data by providing customized filtering and grouping capabilities suited to your unique business needs.
Things to Consider
- Required User Permissions:
- 'Admin' level permissions on the Project Admin tool.
- Additional Information:
- Add up to three (3) budget code attributes per project.
- Add an unlimited number of attribute items to each attribute.
Steps
Create Attributes
- Navigate to the Project Admin tool.
- Under Project Settings, click Work Breakdown Structure.
- Click the Budget Code Attributes tab.
- Click Create Attributes.
- Enter a unique name for each attribute. Add up to three (3) budget code attributes per project.
- Click Create.
Add Attribute Items
- Navigate to the Project Admin tool.
- Under Project Settings, click Work Breakdown Structure.
- Click the Budget Code Attributes tab.
- Highlight an attribute in the list.
- (Optional) Change the attribute's name if you want.
- Under Attribute Item, type a name for the item in the Enter text box.
The system saves the item when you press ENTER or click outside the data entry box. - Repeat the steps above for each item. Add an unlimited number of items.
Delete Attribute Items
- Navigate to the Project Admin tool.
- Under Project Settings, click Work Breakdown Structure.
- Click the Budget Code Attributes tab.
- Highlight an attribute in the list.
- Under Attribute Item, click the delete icon to remove it.
The system immediately removes the item from the selected attribute list. - Repeat the steps above to remove other items.
Assign an Attribute Item to a Budget Code
- Navigate to the Project Admin tool.
- Under Project Settings, click Work Breakdown Structure.
- Click the Budget Code Usage tab.
- In each attribute column on the table, choose one attribute item from the drop-down list to apply it to the selected budget code.
- Repeat the steps above for any other budget code.
Assign Attribute Items to Budget Codes in Bulk
- Navigate to the Project Admin tool.
- Under Project Settings, click Work Breakdown Structure.
- Click the Budget Code Usage tab.
- Select one or more budget code check boxes.
This enables the Assign Attributes button. - Click Assign Attributes.
This opens the Edit Values panel. - For each Attribute, select the attribute item to apply to the selected budget codes.
- Click Apply.
