Import Budget Code Attribute Items to Project Work Breakdown Structure
Objective
To import budget code attribute items to up to three (3) existing attributes in a project's Work Breakdown Structure.
Background
To save on data entry time when adding items to a budget code attribute, users can download a CSV template, complete the data entry in a spreadsheet program, and then import the file to the Procore project's Work Breakdown Structure.
Things to Consider
- Required User Permissions:
- 'Admin' level permissions on the Project Admin tool.
- Additional Information:
- Add an unlimited number of attribute items for up to three (3) attributes.
Steps
Download a Template
You can alternatively download a spreadsheet template to import attributes:
- Navigate to the Project Admin tool.
- Under Project Settings, click Work Breakdown Structure.
- Click the Budget Code Attributes tab.
- Click Import Spreadsheet.
This opens the Import Attribute Items from CSV window. - Click Download Blank Spreadsheet template.
This downloads a spreadsheet to your web browser's configured download location.
Update the Template
- Open the template in a spreadsheet program.
The header row shows your system’s attributes by name. - In each column (starting on row 2), enter an unlimited number of items for each attribute.
Tip
For best results with CSV imports, follow these best practices:
- Do not apply any text or number formatting to your entries. Enter data in plain text.
- Type each entry exactly as you want it to appear in Procore. These entries will display in the user interface.
- Do not move or change the values in the header row. Changing the structure of the data table will result in a failed import.
- Do not move, change, or add additional columns to the data table.
- Save the completed template. Name the completed template what you want.
Import a Completed Template
- Navigate to the Project Admin tool.
- Under Project Settings, click Work Breakdown Structure.
- Click the Budget Code Attributes tab.
- Click Import Spreadsheet.
This opens the Import Attribute Items window. - Upload or drag-and-drop the completed template to the Spreadsheet area.
- Click Import.
