Summarize a Conversation with Assist
Background
The embedded summarization button in the Conversations tool helps users quickly generate a summary of discussions over a selected time range. This feature provides a list of topics, summaries, decisions, and outstanding tasks, making it easier to review key information. The summarization tool saves time and helps teams stay aligned without reading through long message threads.
Things to Consider
- Required User Permissions:
- You must exist in a project's Directory tool.
Note: You must have permission to view an item to summarize its conversation.

Prerequisites
- Ensure the embedded summarization feature is enabled for your account.
Steps
- Navigate to the project’s Conversations tool.
- Open a Direct Message or Group Channel where you want to generate a summary.
- Click the Summarize button.
- Select a time range for the summary:
- 7 days
- 30 days
- Set a custom range

- Review the summary, which includes:
- A list of topics discussed.
- A brief summary for each topic.
- Any decisions made.
- Any open decisions or outstanding tasks.
- Quick bullet points for easy scanning.
