Transition Steps
Important
There are two ways to opt into the modernized experience, differing in scope and eligibility. Choose the method on who needs access, and review the eligibility requirements for Option 1 before proceeding.
-
Option 1: Opt in as an Individual User (Evaluation)
-
Option 2: Opt in an entire Project or Company (Rollout)
Eligibility Note: Individual banner opt-in is available only for users whose project Invoicing tool does not use workflows. If your Invoicing tool relies on legacy (V1) workflows, the opt-in banner will not appear in your interface until October 13, 2026. Until that date, use Option 2 (project or company-wide opt-in via Procore Explore). For full details, see Transition Path for Customers Using Legacy (V1) Workflows.
Any eligible user with access to subcontractor invoices can opt themselves in directly from an invoice — no administrator involvement required.
-
Open the Commitments tool from the project tools drop-down menu.
-
Under the Contracts tab, click the Number link for a commitment, then open an existing invoice from the invoice tab.
-
In the beta opt-in banner at the top of the invoice, click to switch to the modernized experience.
What this does and does not do:
-
It opts in only you. Every other user on the project including approvers, invoice administrators, and the invoice contacts who submit invoices continues to see the legacy experience until they opt themselves in or an administrator enables the feature for the project or company.
-
It is the fastest way to evaluate the modernized experience, and the right first step before committing a project to it.
-
It is not sufficient for testing a real billing cycle. Commitment invoicing is inherently collaborative subcontractors submit, administrators review, approvers route and a solo opt-in leaves everyone else on the legacy experience. Use Option 2 on a test project to validate Invite to Bill, line-item review, and approvals.
Note
Until January 12, 2027 there will be a banner that will allow users to opt back out unless you follow Option 2.Option 2: Opt in an entire project or company (rollout)
To give everyone on a project or across your company the modernized experience, a Company Admin enables it through Procore Explore. This option is available to all customers, including those using legacy (V1) workflows — and until October 13, 2026, it is the only route available to them.
-
Navigate to the Company level Admin tool.
-
Click Procore Explore.
-
In the Procore Explore catalog, scroll or search for Remove Legacy Commitment/Subcontractor Invoicing Access and select Join Program
-
Select the specific project(s) or user(s) where you want to activate the modernized experience and select Save & Join.
Note
You can also enable the modernized experience Company wide through Procore Explore. -
Open the Commitments tool from the project tools drop-down menu.
-
Under the Contracts tab, click the Number link for the commitment you want to invoice, then click Create > Create Invoice.
-
Confirm that the modernized experience is active:
-
The invoice is presented on a single page.
-
The page uses the modernized financial tools layout.
-
Using checkboxes on the Schedule of Values allows you to bulk update selected lines.
-
-
Create a test subcontractor invoice on your sample project and validate it end to end — Invite to Bill, line-item review, retainage, approvals, and export — before enabling the modernized experience company-wide.
Recommended sequence
If the opt-in banner is available to you:
-
Opt yourself in via the banner (Option 1) and get familiar with the modernized experience on a real invoice.
-
Enable a single test project via Procore Explore (Option 2) so your whole project team — and any collaborators who submit invoices — are on the same experience.
-
Run a full invoice on that test project, including Invite to Bill, line-item review, approvals, and export.
-
Enable remaining projects or your entire company once the cycle completes cleanly.
If you use legacy (V1) workflows (before October 13, 2026):
-
Enable a single test project via Procore Explore (Option 2)). Individual evaluation through the banner is not available to you yet, so start at the project level.
-
Evaluate the feature set on that test project, but do not rely on legacy workflow approvals and do not transition production projects.
-
Fully transition on or after October 13, 2026. For more information, see Phase 1 and Phase 2 sections.
Transition Path for Customers Using Legacy (V1) Workflows
Recommendation
Evaluate the modernized experience today on sample projects, but delay company-wide rollout until October 13, 2026. Legacy (V1) workflows will not support the modernized experience until October 13, 2026. You can opt in early, but doing so before October 13 will prevent invoices from routing through your existing legacy approval workflows.

Evaluate the modernized experience on a test project via Procore Explore. The individual opt-in banner does not appear for you. Legacy workflows cannot be used with the modernized experience, so hold off on transitioning production projects. |
|
October 13, 2026 |
Legacy workflows become usable with the modernized experience, and the individual opt-in banner becomes available to you. You can begin fully transitioning production projects to modernized invoicing, and start and respond to legacy workflow items in the New Workflows side panel. |
|
December 15, 2026 |
All users lose access to legacy invoicing. |
Phase 1 — Evaluate now (before October 13, 2026)
-
Identify or create a test project that is not running live billing.
-
Enable the modernized Commitment Invoicing experience on that project through Procore Explore using the steps in Option 2.
-
Create test subcontractor invoices and exercise the feature set — Schedule of Values, adding and removing individual change orders, retainage controls, line-item approval and rejection, and exports.
-
Note any gaps against your current process and raise them with your Procore point of contact while you still have time before transitioning.
-
Do not enable the modernized experience on live projects during this phase, and do not rely on legacy workflow approvals in your testing.
Phase 2 — Transition (October 13, 2026 or later)
-
Confirm that legacy workflow support is live in the modernized experience in your environment.
-
Enable the modernized Commitment Invoicing experience on a production project through Procore Explore. Individual users can also opt themselves in from the invoice opt-in banner as of this date.
-
Run a full billing cycle on that project, including Invite to Bill, line-item review, invoice approvals routed through your existing legacy workflows, and export.
-
Confirm that legacy workflow items start and respond correctly in the New Workflows side panel.
-
Enable remaining projects, or your entire company, once that cycle completes cleanly.
