Add Observations to a Drawing (iOS)

Objective

To add observation items to a drawing on the Procore iOS app.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions:
    • To add observations to a drawing:
      • 'Read Only' or higher permissions on the project's Drawings tool.
        AND
      • 'Standard' or 'Admin' permissions on the project's Observations tool.
    • To publish personal markups to the Published layer:
  • Additional Information:
    • Automatic publishing for observation pins can be turned on or off in the 'Auto-Publish Obs Pins' toggle. 
    • This action can be performed in offline mode if the drawing has already been downloaded to the device. Tasks performed in offline mode will be synced with Procore once a network connection has been reestablished. 

Steps

  1. Open the Procore app on your iOS mobile device.
  2. Tap the project's Drawings tool.
  3. Tap the drawing you want to add an observation to.
  4. Tap the pin icon-drawing-markup-pin-ios.png icon in the markup toolbar.
  5. Tap the observation icon-drawing-markup-observation-ios.png icon. 
  6. Tap the area of the drawing you want to add the observation to.
  7. After the observation item has been placed, you can add an existing observation or create a new one.
    • To link an existing observation, tap Link Existing and select an observation.
    • To create a new observation:
      1. Tap an observation template.
        OR
        Tap +Create Without Template.
      2. Enter the necessary information to create the observation. See Create an Observation (iOS).
  8. Tap Save.
    Note: The color of the pin denotes the status of the observation.
    • Blue: Open
    • Yellow: Ready for Review
    • Red: Not Accepted
    • Gray: Closed
  9. Optional: To publish the observation pin:
    1. Tap the Select icon, then tap the observation pin.
      Note: If you want to publish multiple markups at once, select the Lasso option under 'Select', then draw a shape around the markups.
    2. Tap Publish.
      Note: If you want Procore to automatically publish observation pins as they are added, tap the Auto-Publish Obs Pins toggle to the ON position.
