Objective 

On Site Storage is to provide easy access to stored items while keeping clutter out of the way. Can be beneficial for a variety of reasons, including efficiency, cost savings, safety, control, security. 

 

Things to Consider 

Location: Where to store materials depends on the site size, traffic flow, and materials needed.  

Zoning: Group storage containers by how often and what they’re used for.  

Security: Protect against theft and vandalism.  

Control: Have processes to check the quality and quantity of materials when they arrive, and to monitor stock.

Processing: Consider what needs to be done to materials before they can be used, such as removing packaging.  

Ownership: Determine who has access to the storage container.  

 

On Site Storage 

  • Before calling The Tool/Equipment Department 

  • Know the size of container the jobsite needs. 

  • Date of when the container is needed by.  

  • Location of where the container will go on jobsite. 

  • Job name and cost code the container will be charged to.  

  • How long the container is needed for. 

  • Security of the container (padlocks).  

  • Doors toward the cab or facing away from the cab.  

  • This ensure placement of doors when delivered to jobsite. 

Pick up – scheduling 

  • Once container is no longer needed onsite.  

  • The storage container will have to be cleaned out.  

  • Remove all materials, trash, etc.  

  • Sweep out container.  

  • When cleaned out call the Tool/Equipment Department to arrange pick up date of storage container.  

 

Note Any damage to unit when delivered and before it leaves. Remember any type of holes placed in unit could become a back charge when returning.
