Process: Concrete Blankets 

Objective 

Concrete blankets are incredibly effective at keeping the material warm during its curing process. The blankets can keep concrete at an ideal temperature even when the weather drops below 20°F. 

Things to Consider 

The employee putting down concrete blankets will need to have something to hold the blankets down with. Concrete blankets should be coming back the way they went out.  Concrete blankets are REUSABLE. 

Concrete Blankets – Going Out 

• The Superintendent will call the Tool Department with how many concrete blankets are needed for the job.  

• The Superintendent will receive the concrete blankets folded with a wire tie around it.  

• Once getting the concrete blankets unfold the blanket out on the desired area that needs covered.  

• Black side up – this will reflect the sun rays and the silver/orange side will lock the heat in.  

• Check for rips in the concrete blankets.  

• If any rips in the blankets let the Tool Department know. (If applicable count how many have rips) 

• Proceed to put something on top of the blankets to secure them.  

Concrete Blankets – Coming In 

• The concrete blankets need to be folded after done using.  

• Roll the blankets like a burrito. Not a square. 

• They stack better and travel better when rolled up. 

• Count  

• All blankets need to be accounted for.   Whether they are thrown away or just coming back to the shop.  

• When they come back, they need to be stacked in the storage containers designated for blanket storage.
