Dr. Baris Salman is an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at Syracuse University. His research activities focus on generating sustainable asset management strategies for infrastructure systems. Salman directed or participated in research projects that focused on improving management strategies for a wide variety of infrastructure systems including transportation infrastructure (pavements, bridges, airports) and buried systems (wastewater and drainage systems). Recently, he has been focusing on integrating BIM and sensor technologies for smart infrastructure management applications. Salman sees construction as an important stage within the lifecycle of an infrastructure asset. As such, he conducts research on sustainable construction practices for infrastructure systems.
