Search For and Apply Filters to Company Documents
Objective
To search for and apply filters to files stored in the Documents tool.
Things to Consider

- To search for files and folders that you have access permission to see, 'Read-only' or above permissions on the Documents tool.

- Search results are tool-specific. When using the company's Documents tool, its searches only the company's documents. When using the project's Documents tool, it searches only that project's documents.

Search for a File
- Navigate to the Documents tool.
- Enter your search terms in the search bar. Click the search icon or press RETURN or ENTER on your keyboard to confirm the search.
The system searches the following fields for keyword matches: Filename, Path, and Description. A list of files appears in the Document Search page.
Notes:
- The tool also searches vector-based content in the following supported file types: .csv, .doc, .docx, .pdf, .xls, .xlsx.
- Typically, you can determine if a PDF document is vector-based by opening it in Adobe Reader and trying to select the text. If you can select the text, the content is most likely vector-based file.
- It is important to note that not all PDFs are created the same. Some files might contain raster content, vector content, text content, and/or a combination of all these. See What is the difference between raster and vector content in PDFs?
Apply Filters to a Document Search
- Navigate to the Documents tool.
- Enter your search terms in the search bar. Click the search icon or press RETURN or ENTER on your keyboard to confirm the search.
- Click the Add Filter drop-down menu.
Choose from the following options:- Uploaded/Created By: Mark the checkbox next to a user to only display files uploaded/created by that user. You can select multiple users or select all users.
- Uploaded/Created On: Choose from a single day or date range. You can type in dates or click on dates on the calendar to select specific dates.
- Display files from Recycle Bin: Mark the checkbox next to Yes if you want to include files that are currently in the Recycle Bin.
Notes:
- After choosing a filter, click anywhere else on the page to apply the filter.
- To clear the filter and display all search results, click Clear All.
Download Files from Document Search
To download a file from the Document Search page, click the Download icon across from the file you want to download.
Export the Contents of a Document Search
To export the list of files populated from the search, click Export > PDF or Export > CSV from the drop-down menu.
