DroneDeploy 360 Photos - Viewing your Images
Objective
This section will guide you through viewing your Walks and Images in DroneDeploy
Things to Consider
While viewing the basic photo information in DroneDeploy is easy, there are other features available that take a bit more nuance and practice to master. This section will help guide you through those features.
Media Groups
Via the EXPLORE tab, you can view your media in the following ways:
- Group media in close chronological proximity
- Preview media types via the side panel
- See media grouped together by physical proximity as you zoom out
Media Gallery
Clicking on a photo, or along a 360 Walk, will open up a "Media Gallery" panel on the right hand side of the screen.
Multiple photos in the same location (from a walk or 360 pano) will be visible in the media gallery. If only one photo exists in a location all other photos from the project will be viewable in the media gallery.
X-Ray Mode
Align previously taken photos with your phone camera in the Mobile Ground app. This will provide an overlay of a previous photo and the live feed from your camera to see behind closed up walls or poured concrete while on site.
Locations
DroneDeploy Ground's Locations feature offers a powerful way to organize and navigate your captured data, both on the exterior view and within interior floor plans. It lets you segment your captures into bite-sized chunks, providing focused insight into specific areas of your project.
Benefits of Using Locations:
- Enhanced Organization: Break down your captures into manageable regions, from entire project sections to individual rooms within a floor plan.
- Targeted Viewing: Click on a specific location to instantly filter the media gallery, displaying only captures relevant to that area. This eliminates having to sift through irrelevant data, saving you time and effort.
- Focused Walk Navigation: When viewing a walk, locations automatically filter the displayed frames to those captured within that specific area. This helps you zero in on progress or potential issues in specific zones, eliminating distractions.
Examples of Locations
Exterior: Parking lot, Building, Building Area, Material Loading, Laydown area, etc.
Interior:Garage, Meeting Room, Corridor, Unit #, Stairwells, etc.
Create Locations
Select “Add” under the Overlays tab then scroll down to Locations. Using one of the provided sketch tools (polygon, rectangle or radius) draw around the specified location, then name and group the location. Be sure that the location names match the Locations that have been created in Procore.
Note: Any user with edit rights can add locations, but only Org Admins can create new Location Types.
Viewing Locations
Each location calculates the number of captures within it, which determines the opacity of the location. The more captures, the darker the location will be.
You can view a Location using the list view in the left-hand sidebar. Selecting a Location brings up a Media Gallery showing the captures in that Location.
Creating Issues
While viewing a 360 Photo or Walk, you have the ability to create an Issue and push that Issue to Procore as an Observation. To create an issue, select the Issue icon on the right hand side, below the Select Arrow
Next - draw a box around the Issue. A new dialogue box will open, prompting you to enter information about the Issue. Fill out the Information, then click “Send to Procore”.
Select the Observation Type, and hit Send. Your Issue will Sync with Procore as an Observation, then hit Done.
Your Issue will now appear along your Walk, where you can click on it to add Comments, or view the Observation in Procore.
