DroneDeploy 360 Photos - Integrations and BIM Compare

Objective

This section will show you how to maximize DroneDeploy's Integrations with Procore and BIM*

*Note: the BIM Integration will only apply if your project utilized BIM for coordination

Things to Consider

DroneDeploy has the ability to sync with Procore! This will allow you to view the DroneDeploy platform directly within Procore via an embedded app, but also allows you to push information back to Procore, including photos and Observations

Org Admins’ Role with these Integrations:

  1. Org Admins must add these applications from apps menu for them to be visible in DroneDeploy Projects
  2. Only Org Admins can configure the integration in project settings panel
  3. Reach out to procorehelp@kastbuild.com for Admin assistance

Procore Integration:

  • Drawings Access: Pull drawings directly from your Procore project to overlay on your interior captures.
  • Auto-sync Drawing Revisions: Enable this option to automatically update DroneDeploy with the latest Procore drawing revision
    • Note: Drawings must be added from Procore to utilize this feature
  • Auto-Export Progress Report Photos: Enable this option to export all photos from the Progress Report (under Reports tab)
  • Embedded Experience: Procore Project license holders can enable the Procore embedded experience, letting team members view all DroneDeploy content within Procore, without switching platforms.

Note: While current functionality doesn't include exporting Ground content (photos, 360 panos, 360 walks) to Procore, this feature should be available soon.

To learn how to complete each step above please see our Procore Help Article, or reach out to 360photos@kastbuild.com

BIM Compare

DroneDeploy Ground's BIM Compare brings the virtual world of BIM models into the real world of on-site inspections and progress tracking. It allows you to overlay your BIM model directly onto your captured walks, enabling side-by-side comparisons of the as-built status with the coordinated design.

Benefits of BIM Compare:

  • Remote Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections without needing to physically visit the site. Compare the as-built state with the design remotely, saving time and resources.
  • Enhanced Collaboration: Share BIM comparisons with stakeholders across the project team, facilitating better communication and collaboration.
  • Improved Quality Control: Identify discrepancies between the design and the actual construction early on, allowing for timely corrective action.
  • Increased Efficiency: Streamline inspection workflows by eliminating the need for manual measurements and comparisons.

Use Case Example: Verifying MEPF Installation

One valuable application of BIM Compare is during the installation of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire protection) systems. By overlaying the BIM model onto your walk, you can easily:

  • Compare installation locations: Ensure equipment and piping are placed according to the coordinated design.
  • Track progress: Visualize the completion of MEPF installation and identify any areas that are behind schedule.
  • Identify potential issues: Spot deviations from the coordinated design that could lead to problems later on.

How to Use BIM Compare

Notes:

  • Please contact your VDC Manager in order to sync your BIM Model to your DroneDeploy Project
  • Only Project Admins or Coordinators can upload or delete BIM models to DroneDeploy projects
  • Only one BIM model may be uploaded per project. Delete the existing model before uploading a new version
  • BIM cannot be viewed alone - a Walk must be present in the project to open BIM Compare

For Complete user instructions please see our BIM Compare for DroneDeploy Ground article.

For instructions on how to align your BIM model please see our BIM Alignment Workflow article.
