Upload a New Version of a File


To upload a new version of a file into Procore's Documents tool. 

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permission:
    • 'Standard' or 'Admin' on the Documents tool.
  • Additional Information:
    • These permission levels apply to both the company's and project's Documents tool. (Note: Permission levels are tool-specific. For example, you can have Read-only level permissions on the company's Documents tool and 'Admin' level permissions on a project's Documents tool. Please keep this in mind when you are looking to perform tasks at different levels.)
    • If you need to makes changes to a previously uploaded document, it's recommended that you first check out the file from Procore so that other users will know that it's currently being edited and that a newer version will most likely be uploaded in the near future.


  1. Navigate to the company's or project's Documents tool.
  2. Using the file tree on the left, select the file you would like to upload a new version of.
  3. In the file overview window, click Choose File under 'Upload a New Version". ( Note : It is recommended that you first check the file out to prevent people from downloading the old version while you're uploading the new version.)
  4. Select the file you wish to upload.

  5. Click Upload.
  6. The new version will now appear on the version log.
