Track a Folder or File

Objective

To track a folder or file in Procore's Documents tool.

Background

  • Tracking a folder or file allows you to receive an e-mail notification whenever a new file is added to a folder, deleted from a folder, or when a new version of a file is uploaded into Procore.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permission: 'Read-only' and above on the Documents tool.
  • These permission levels apply to both the Company and Project level Documents tool.
(Note: Permission levels are tool-specific. For example, you can have 'Read-only' level permissions on the Company level Documents tool and 'Admin' level permissions on a Project level Documents tool. Please keep this in mind when you are looking to tasks at different levels.)
  • When you track a file or folder, you will not get an email every time a file is added, deleted, or updated. Instead, you will receive a summary email within an hour of the file being uploaded into Procore.
  • If you track a parent folder, you will also be tracking any of its child folders.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Project level Documents tool.

  2. Select the desired folder or file in Procore's Documents tool using the file tree (on the left side of the page).

  3. At the top right of the window, you will see an option to track the folder (or file).

  4. Mark the checkbox to track the folder or file.

  5. Uncheck the box to stop receiving update notification for the selected file or folder.
