Add a Related Item to a File

Objective

To add a related item to a file in the company's or project's Documents tool.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permission:
    • To add or delete related items, 'Admin' level permission on the Documents tool. 
    • To view related item titles only, 'Read Only' level permission on the Documents tool. 
    • To view and access related items, 'Standard' level permission on the Documents tool. 
      Note: The permissions above apply to both the company's and project's Documents tool.
  • Additional Information:
    • For a selection to appear in the 'Type' menu, the corresponding tool must be an active tool on the project. See Add and Remove Tools from a Project.
    • For a selection to appear in the 'Description' menu, you must be granted the appropriate permission to view that item in the corresponding Procore tool. 

Steps

  1. Navigate to the company's or projects Documents tool.
  2. Using your file tree in the left pane, select the file you would like to add related item(s) to.
  3. While viewing the file details in the middle pane, scroll down to 'Related Items'.
  4. Fill out the fields.

    • Type: Select from the drop-down menu the type of item you would like to add to the related items list (e.g., drawing revision, RFI, Submittal).

    • Description: Choose an item within the type to relate to the file (e.g. Choose a drawing revision previously uploaded to Procore's Drawings tool.)

    • Date: The date of the item will automatically be filled if relevant.

    • Notes: Add any notes to the revision you would like to show up in the list.
