What is a Copilot Skill?

 Caution
Like all AI tools, Copilot's answers might not be entirely accurate. You must evaluate any recommendations or suggestions against your own reasonable policies and procedures before taking action. We recommend human review of any AI-generated outputs.

Background

Copilot can answer questions about different things related to Procore. For example, it can answer questions about how to perform an action in the software based on information from Procore's support site. It can also help you find information in your project, like details about an RFI.

Depending on your question, Copilot will use a different 'skill', or sometimes a set of multiple skills, to provide you with an answer.

Answer

In the context of Copilot, a 'skill' is a something Copilot is capable of helping you do. Copilot is engineered to identify the skill it should use to answer your question in a way that provides the best possible output. Copilot currently has the following Skills:

  • Answers. Finds information about project data, like details from RFIs, Submittals, Specifications, and more. This skill can also answer questions about how to use Procore based on information from Procore's support site.
  • Reports. Answers questions about data aggregation, and drafts a report along with a summary of the report data in response to your question. You can choose to save the report so you can come back to it later, or not.
Note: You must have permission to create reports to use this skill. Copilot always respects user permissions.

If you don't have access to a skill based on your user permissions, Copilot will attempt to answer your question using a different skill.

For example, you might ask a question about how many RFIs are in a certain user's ball in court, which could best be answered using the Reports skill. If you don't have permission to create RFI reports, Copilot will attempt to use the Answers skill to respond to your question.
