What are the limitations when creating multiple prime contracts?

Answer

When a project has multiple prime contracts, the following functionality is not currently available:

  • The ability to import individual line items from the Budget tool to the Prime Contract.
  • The ability to set different granular permissions for each Prime Contract (i.e. when you set granular permissions for the Prime Contract tool, it applies to all prime contracts created). See Grant Granular Permissions in a Permission Template.
  • The ability to sort, filter, or group data by a specific Prime Contract on other tools (e.g. the ability to sort by Prime Contract on the Change Events list page). We recommend building a custom report to show financial data that is sorted, filtered, or grouped by it's respective prime contract. See Create a Custom Project Report.
  • The ability to map your commitments to a prime contract for pre-filling costs. If the same cost code & cost type combination is used on more than one prime contract, the pre-filling feature will copy the Direct Costs and/or Subcontractor Invoice amounts to each Owner Invoice. This can be avoided by using different billing periods or sub-jobs, per prime contract.
