Is the Tableau web data connector secure?

 Coming Soon
Effective November 30, 2020, the Tableau Web Data Connector integration will be deprecated. If your company is currently using the integration, your existing data connections will continue to function until this date. See Integrations: (Coming Soon) Deprecation of Tableau Web Data Connector for more information.

Yes. When leveraging Procore's Tableau web data connector, Tableau requires an HTTP web address to use as a data connector. In Procore, this HTTP web address is known as the 'Tableau Web Connector URL.' This address is used to direct users to a Tableau WebConnect page that requires users to enter their valid Procore account information before Tableau is allowed to extract your Procore data. This means that no one will be able to access or view your Procore or Tableau account unless they also have your account information on both platforms, and the respective web connector URL.

Things to keep in mind when leveraging the Tableau web data connector for Procore:

  • Each tab in a Procore custom report has a unique 'Tableau Web Connector URL' link. This adds an extra level or security in that if someone gets access to one URL and your account information, they won't have access to all of the data.
  • Your Procore user account must be assigned 'Admin' level permissions to the Company level and/or Project level Reports tool. This ensures that no one can access the information in Tableau unless they can access it in Procore.
  • To access data in Tableau via the 'Tableau Web Connector URL' link, you must know the login credentials for the Procore user account that created the custom report. The 'Tableau Web Connector URL' link cannot be shared between Procore user accounts.
