Edit a Company Level Inspection Template

Objective

To edit a Company level inspection template.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions:
    • To Edit at the Company Level: 'Admin' level permissions on the Company level Inspections tool.
    • To Edit at the Project Level: 'Admin' level permissions on the Project level Inspections tool.
  • If you edit a template at the company level, it will not change project level inspections that are already built off of that template. However, it will change any future inspections you build off of that template.
  • Any edits you make to your company level Inspections template will be seen universally throughout your project. However, you do not need to edit your template to account for each of your projects' needs. You may build a generic template and then modify it at the project level.

Edit From the Company Level

Things to Consider

  • Company level information will only be editable at the Company level and will not be editable at the Project level. This information includes Inspection Name, Type, Trade, Description, Attachments, Sections, and Inspection Items.
  • If a company template is edited at the Company level, those changes will sync to the corresponding template at the Project level for all projects using that company template.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Company level Inspections tool.
  2. Locate the template and click Edit.
  3. Choose from these editing options:
    • To modify a field, click on any of the editable fields and either type over the existing entry or select a different entry from the drop-down list.
    • To delete a template item, click the 'x' to the right of the item heading.
    • To delete a template section, click the 'x' to the right of the section heading. A confirmation message appears to confirm that you want to delete the section and all of the items in the section. Click Delete to confirm with the action.
    • To add an item, click Add Item below any section.
  4. Click Update.

Edit From the Project Level

Things to Consider

  • Information from the synced company template will appear with a golden key icon. Company level information will not be editable at the Project level. If you would like to edit this information and have it sync down to the template on each of your projects, Edit a Company Level Inspections Template. When you make edits, they will only impact the inspection template at the Project level; it will not impact inspections already created.
  • When editing a company template at the Project level, additional project level information can be added to the template. This includes project level Description, Attachments, Sections, and Inspection Items.  Project level information is not synced to the Company level template.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Project level Inspections tool.
  2. Click Configure Inspection Settings
  3. On the Project Inspection Templates page, locate the template and click Edit.
Note: You may have to first Add Company Level Inspection Templates to Your Project.
    • To modify a field, click on any of the editable fields and either type over the existing entry or select a different entry from the drop-down list.
    • To delete a template item, click the 'x' to the right of the item heading.
Note: You can only delete items that were created at the Project level.
    • To delete a template section, click the 'x' to the right of the section heading. A confirmation message appears to confirm that you want to delete the section and all of the items in the section. Click Delete to confirm with the action.
Note: You can only delete sections that were created at the Project level.
    • To add an item, click Add Item below any section.
