Create a Company Level Punch Item Template


To create punch item templates at the Company level.


If you're a Punch List tool Admin, you may find it useful to add custom punch item templates. Quick Punch allows Procore users to create a library of common punch items which can be organized into categories. Default trades and assignees can be assigned to these common punch items. When a Procore user creates a new punch item from a mobile device, they can select one of their templates which will auto-fill fields on the new punch item with default information from the template. Users can then add or edit information as needed, save the new punch item, and move on. This allows our users to select common punch items from their library and create new punch items with the minimum number of actions required, with the biggest action eliminated being typing. 

In order to reduce the barrier to entry and accelerate adoption, Procore has provided a default library of common punch items for all companies.  This default library can be modified by an Admin-level user to meet the specific needs of their company.  

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permission:
    • 'Admin' level permission on the Company level Admin tool.
  • Additional Information:
    • Punch item templates created at the Company level will be dynamically added to all projects in the company.
    • Users with 'Admin' level permission to the Punch List tool can deactivate templates at the Project level if a certain template does not apply.


  1. Navigate to the Company level Admin tool.
    This reveals the Company Settings page.
  2. Under Administrative Settings, click Punch Item Template Configuration.
    This reveals the Punch Item Template Configuration page. 
  3. Choose from these options:
    • To configure a punch item template for a category, do the following:
      • Category. Select the category for which the punch item template will apply. This is only for organizational purposes.

        Note: If no categories are present, follow the steps in Create a Quick Punch Category at the Company Level.
      • Template Name. Enter the name of the punch item template. When a user chooses to add this punch item to a punch list, this defines the item name. 

      • Trade: Select the trade to apply to the punch item. Trades can be added to this list using the Admin tool. See Add or Delete Trades.

    • To apply a trade to an entire category, do the following:
      • Trade. Next to the desired category, select the trade that you want to apply to all the punch item templates in that category. Trades can be added to this list using the Admin tool. See Add or Delete Trades.

      • When 'Apply Trade to Category' box appears, click Continue to apply that trade to the all of the punch item templates in that category. 
  4. Click Submit.
